Regardless, I felt the book was very educational on the system back then and I learned a lot.

Hi everyone,
Just to let you all know that I may be "away" for 2 weeks starting from Thanksgiving (October 14). I'll be in Victoria on Vancouver Island doing school-related stuff. Supposedly we will have full 9-5 days, and group meetings and assignments in the evenings. I'm hoping I'll have time to read and come on goodreads. I'm being quite optimistic as I've packed 6 or 7 books:) Anyway, just a heads-up in case I'm quiet again (though the Non-Fiction section is also quite quiet).

Yes, sounds like a good idea, Shirley.

Started reading it last night. It has a slight fictional tone to me, not sure if it's just me. Anyway, looks like it will be a quick read so I'll be back to share my thoughts pretty soon.

I'll be following along, if you don't mind:) I've already read it a few times (for a class) and found it quite interesting.

I have a copy of Rule Britannia on my shelf. I think I may make it a point to read more of her books in 2014. I really need to read more literature by female writers.

Rebecca is my personal fave from Du Maurier. I also really liked My Cousin Rachel.

Oh wow, glad you're enjoying it, Jenny! Your comments make me want to start it asap!

I'm reading
Third Culture Kids: Growing Up Among Worlds.Very interesting for my personal research but also for a mini-paper I'm working on.

I should be starting this book next week.Looking forward to it.
Jenny wrote: "Oh, subject envy!!! Maybe in my next life. Hope you have big chested man and women around to help (that sounds wrong somehow but I was referring to their ability to lift heavy things around LOL)"Hahaha! Hilarious! Yes, I found some big-chested men to help me move ;)

Thanks Jenny! I moved the majority of my things yesterday and today I have to move the furniture and do some cleaning. I should have taken Monday off!
I'm doing a Masters in International and Intercultural Communication. It's multidisciplinary, focusing mainly on Sociology, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, and Political Science. It's definitely a lot of reading and writing:)

It's great, Laura! I'm hoping to live here at least until I finish my Masters. My friend and I got an excellent deal; housing in Vancouver is so expensive! Good luck, hope you manage to get a good place too:)

Thanks Leslie! Yes, I'll still be working but only 25 hours a week or so. I will still make time to read but I doubt that my 2014 reading goal will be anywhere near 200 books like it was this year!

Hello everyone,
I've been bogged down by work, classes and packing and looking for a new place so I haven't been that active on GR recently. The good news is that I finally found a new house and will be moving in tomorrow. I should be back to active moderating duties from Tuesday, just in time for our first non-fiction reads:) Hope all is well!
