110415 Guys I'm so excited! My new breadmaker arrived today and the first loaf is in right now! Can't wait - will let you know how it turns out ;)

110415 Hi Selina, welcome to the group! I never go anywhere without a book or my kindle either (just in case), hope you enjoy being here :)

110415 I've just started City of Thieves by David Benioff which is good so far, and am about to start The Big Sleep soon.
110415 Yeah it's a bit scary that they did a survey of children that found for a lot of them their happiest memories were of days when they were outside but quite a few expressed concern that they would get dirty or that it wasn't safe! Very sad - I had to be dragged back in kicking and screaming lol!
On this day.... (1385 new)

110415 Wow moon explosion! cool! Let us know what you find Antipodes - stuff like this is fascinating. Like the record of fiery dragons in the sky over Northumbria just before the Viking attacks that were probably meteor's (although of course we do have dragons in Northumbria as well ;) )

110415 ha ha and on that note I might open up my bottle of wine later ;)

Hi Tracey - glad to hear you're well!

110415 Bit creepy that one lol
110415 That would be amazing! I'd love to have a resident goblin or something like that :)

110415 I really like this, it appeals to the part of me that is still 10 years old and wants to be a pirate when I grow up. (Someone was daft enough to give me a copy of Treasure Island - Long John Silver has been my hero ever since!)

110415 That sounds as if the one's that live near me are green as well butI'm afraid they are just ordinary coloured geese lol.
Jun 13, 2014 12:35PM

110415 Aww green geese! Want to see them -we've got some down the road that are always hanging around and now there's goslings! Soooo cute - I keep trying to get a photo but cant get too close cos the adults keep looking at me funny and I don't want to get attacked :S

110415 Nope sorry ;)
110415 How's it going with Friday the 13th guys??? Ha ha I'm a sceptic but.... the shutters for the shop broke this morning so half of them have been closed all day cos we couldn't get them up and then the coffee machine decided to break just before the lunchtime rush! Fun times.
On the other hand - I bought a pair of skinny jeans today that are a size down from what I have been wearing which means I've dropped a dress size and a half since Christmas!!!! Yay go me! Very chuffed ;)

Have a good weekend all :)

110415 Aww bless Margot - of course it's a true story ;)

@Antipodes - I'm so glad you are all excited for reading this book - I'm only a few chapters in and it's really interesting. Not sure how accurate the title is but we'll see - I'm reserving judgement until I get to the end. Enjoy!

110415 Yeah I feel a bit better now - am going to intersperse the serious reads with some old fave's and lighter stuff and hopefully that will work - I hate it when you can't settle to anything!

I raced through The Medusa Frequency by Russell Hoban which was cool and now am reading The Devil All the Time and The Lost Ark of the Covenant: The Remarkable Story of How the Fabled Ark Was Found.

110415 I love that poem - it's cool!

I've just finished The Medusa Frequency and it was a bit crazy. Brilliant writing, loved some of the images, liked Hoban's take on the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, wasn't sure what was going on for most of the book ;) I debated with myself over whether to give it 3 or 4 stars so have gone with 4 for the moment depending on whether it stays with me or not.

110415 They sound pretty interesting Joy, I've just finished (literally two minutes ago) re-reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone which I love! Have been in a bit of a reading slump, you know when everything feels like hard work and you just can't concentrate? So I thought a fun, kid's book would help and it did :)
110415 That sounds rotten Ellie - hope you're feeling better soon!

110415 Love this one sooo much! I might read it again actually
