109785 Any fans of the author's main series here? Would you recommend them? How do they compare to Borne?

They've been on my 'to read' list for a while, but I've yet to get around to them.

I have watched Annihilation on Netflix. Does that count?

109785 You know the routine by now.

Something to say about Borne that can't wait until the hangout? This is the place!

109785 Hey, gang! In case you missed the announcement on twitter, we've decided to combine our scheduled discussion of Lamb with our May selection - a 2-for-1 hangout later this month! Check back soon for the date.

109785 Something to say about this month's book that can't wait until the hangout? This is the place for it!

Lamb is the 2nd Christopher Moore book we've read as a club. He actually tuned into the hangout last time and was cool enough to answer some questions and crack a few jokes! Remember that?

109785 My copy (that Lara sent me so I wouldn't have an excuse to skip this month) collects books 1 and 2 into one volume.

Who knew a story about boning dragons had so much lore?

109785 Flu season is awful. And it hit some of us pretty hard last month. So hard that we haven't gotten around to the January hangout.

The new plan is to do a February double feature. We'll finally discuss Slaughterhouse-Five as well as our latest pick (I say 'our' but this is all Lara) Dragon Actually.

A literary classic and some smut in one hangout.

We'll make it work.

I freely admit to knowing this book by its name and not much else. Not sure what to expect, but it's considered a classic by many, so I'm ready to give it a shot!

109785 Something to say about this month's book that can't wait until the hangout? You know the drill!

Short story collections are hard to review fairly (some are inevitably better than others), but there are some authors here I like plus a few I've been meaning to check out.

I'm completely unfamiliar with this series, but I do love fantasy so I'm looking forward to it!

Personally, I'm already giving it a good review just for the cover alone.

109785 How many books in the series have you finished in these four days?

109785 I'm okay with Shakespearean tragedy that features puns.
CYOA Memories (7 new)
Jul 19, 2017 07:28AM

109785 If you were born before the 2000s, chances are you've read a Choose Your Own Adventure book or two in your life.

There were over a hundred to choose from (no pun intended) covering almost every genre you could think of.

When I think back to the CYOA craze, I recall escaping from Dracula's castle, thwarting alien invaders, and even helping Sherlock Holmes solve a mystery. Also dying. A lot. Then going back to the previous choice and opting for Plan B.

The cover was always an important factor in helping me decide which book I was going to read and there were some memorable ones (for both good and bad reasons - looking at you Space Vampire.)

Which Choose Your Own Adventure memory has this month's pick, To Be or Not To Be, brought back for you?

109785 Something to say about our anniversary book that can't wait until the hangout? This is the place!

PS: Since this is a 'Choose Your Path' type of story, try to keep it spoiler free.

Unless you die in a funny way. Feel free to share that.

109785 Oh, man. A 'choose your own adventure' type of book would be great! I can already hear everyone arguing over the others' choices.
Jun 04, 2017 04:11PM

109785 I'm always down for a good murder mystery.

And I'm already a fan of the 19th century Boston setting, so bring it on!

109785 Please, someone suggest Scalzi.
