Hey folks!
Welcome to the official thread for our side-project: Booze Your Own Adventure.
The plan is to have special hangouts in addition to our end of the month book discussions. In these special hangouts, we'll take on the infamous Choose Your Own Adventure books we grew up with in alcohol-fueled live rematches!
If there's any particular book in the series you'd like to see us read, or maybe even join the hangout with us on air, this is the thread to talk about it.
Also, if you have any of these books lying around, or perhaps find some cheap at a flea market or thrift store and wouldn't mind donating them, let us know!
No official date is set for the first hangout, but once we have it, we'll post in here!

This will be my first Terry Pratchett book, so I'm looking forward to reading it.

I stand by my comments. They eat fruit. Fruit is full of vitamins. Vitamins are good for you.
Also, fruit bat > sloth

I have a fun idea for the hangout. You know those cheesy Christmas sweaters? How about a little competition to see who can find the best (or possibly worst) sweater out there? Tackiest one wins!

The Christmas films I make sure to watch every year out of tradition are Home Alone, Muppets Christmas Carol, and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
But the films that really put me in the holiday spirit are the Rankin/Bass specials like Rudolph, Frosty, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and my favorite, The Year Without a Santa Claus (love the Miser Brothers).
There's a ton of bad Christmas movies out there. From the intentionally bad (Santa's Slay) to the just plain awful (those Tim Allen films). Also, this may be holiday blasphemy to some, but I've never cared for A Christmas Story.

Hey guys. I won't be able to participate in the hangout on Monday. Would it be okay with everyone to have it on Tuesday instead?

"May the Curse of the Withered Plums shrivel up his parts!"
Best line in the book.

Then you'd lose them. And the world would be safe once more.

Really enjoying it so far. I laughed more times reading the first chapter than I did with all of Redshirts.
I may dive right into the second book in the series.

Still waiting for the book I'm giving to arrive (I had to have it imported), but I'll mail it out as soon as it gets here which will hopefully be this week.

I would just like to state that I in no way influenced Lara in choosing this book. Nope. Not at all.

I've got my design lined up.
Make sure to prep your pumpkins before the hangout so we can get carving while we discuss the book!

I wasn't aware of the TV series. After researching it, the actor who played Harry Dresden didn't look how I had the character pictured in my mind. I thought it should've been a tall, lanky guy with long thin hair. A Tom Hiddleston if you will, Ez ;-)

Here's a link with some posters for the occasion. Maybe we should put one of them here and/or on geekocracy.net

I approve this decision.
And don't feel bad Ez. Next month you get to pick.

Do you have to ask?

I've been doing some research and came across a book called House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski. It's apparently one of the scariest books of the last decade. Only problem is that it's about 700 pages.
There's also a horror-satire called John Dies at the End by David Wong that's supposedly very good. It's a more manageable 375 pages.
Ez wrote: "Who wouldn't want to read Eternal Pleasure; apocalyptic dinosaur shapeshifters for the win!"*raises hand*

Vodka and Mountain Dew in a beaker with dry ice.

Looking ahead to next month, I think the book should have a Halloween theme (or maybe just general horror).
Let's hear your suggestions! What's the scariest book you've read?
