108664 Hello Maralyn, so glad you stopped by. So lucky that you get to read The Administration and other books for the first time. Manna Francis is a talented writer and she has created some of the most memorable characters in Toreth, Warrick and (forgive for saying it) Carnac. These books are nothing like a formulaic romance, but we like that about them.

Mark, there is no set release date. Best guess will be in 2014 sometime, so you have plenty of time. No slacking off. As for "our baby", well this is a fan group, so we really really like them!

Well put Kate. And... Warrick got Toreth to wear the skimpy little costume with the collar as well!

Yeah, Warrick is cool as a cucumber most always. I recall one time he got a bit misty eyed about the prospect of losing Toreth. Of course, that was not in front of Toreth. I think maybe it was FAtW, not sure.

108664 Both Carnac and Toreth are twisted, albeit in somewhat different ways. I had my BFFs google & wikipedia research empathy for me and found out that there is emotional empathy and cognitive empathy. Now that I'm an expert I would say that Carnac possesses cognitive empathy by the truckload. Both are depleted of emotional empathy.

108664 Thanks Crispy.... That lecture is perfect and why we have this group. I haven't read much SF so the concept was foreign to me and googling socioanalyst didn't help.

108664 I have always had trouble getting a visual on Toreth. I know he is blonde, in great shape and in his 30s. Does anyone know how tall he is?

Thanks for joining Vicky! The Administration is definitely different from SF or ICoS, but Toreth and Warrick make a legendary pairing. IMO,, Manna Francis's writing is excellent and consistently good through the series.

108664 Remember, Warrick dumped Carnac back in the day. Don't tell me that's not worth seeing.

Well I am depraved, so I would really dig it.

108664 I would love to see a Carnac story sans Toreth and Warrick. Or maybe a glimpse into the pre-Toreth days when Warrick biblical-knew Carnac.

108664 I was googling shit all the time when I read Stockholm Syndrome and the Fun with Dick and Shane series. What the heck is a bib and tucker? And of course you can't forget Dan and his fags.

Jenn, I don't often reread, but with The Administration and Captive Prince the writing is so good that i got a lot the from the 2nd or 3rd read. The first time around I just absorbed and enjoyed the story. On subsequent reads, I picked up on many details that initially went past me and I was able savor all the clever things that the authors did.

Would that be (view spoiler)? He was my favorite.

This is a bit off topic, but the visual mindworm I have for Vadim is a younger buffer Vladimir Putin. Erggggg... I can't believe I just made that confession.

108664 I had a boss back in my college days who was slightly effeminate and very exacting, and for some reason he has become my mental placeholder for Warrick. His name was Bob and he had a mustache and I know this doesn't make any sense, but this is what happens to me.

No idea, it may not be till next year. Maybe we should start placing bets on which will come out first, The Administration Book 8, or Captive Prince: Volume Three.

Yeah, but the socioanalysts start their training at 4 months old. It's a super twisted dystopian version of a present day sociologist.
Jul 16, 2013 09:48PM

108664 I would take either one, heck I would even go a round with Carnac if he would have me.
