Hello Cat... I am glad you found our little TA group. Your description follows a classic pattern where you start off interested, but not blown away by MF. Then you read on in the series and these characters really get under your skin. And then you realize the nuance and awesomeness of the writing, and then you become a hopeless fan.
Have fun exploring the discussion threads, especially the one where Loederkiningin shares a recent interview with Manna Francis.

Hi Onyx. Glad you found this group. TA is amazing, so different than anything else I have read. And it's a great time to be a TA fan, with a couple more books to come. Have fun exploring the discussions and fan gushing here.
BTW, if you purchase the paperbacks or ebooks, there are a few extra stories but nothing super essential. I purchased the paperbacks (the ebooks were not out at the time) because I was such a fan that I wanted those extras.

It's still Thursday here!?!? But I might stay up late to get early dibs on the Manna Mania.

Yes, he does pop up again. I don't know if he is disturbed, but he is disturbing. I love Carnac in that he is an unconventional villain. He has a huge ego & huge brainpower, yet Toreth sort of stumps him.

Hello Ingela, so glad you found The Administration Zone. Your ambivalence is understandable as Toreth is not a typical hero, yet you want to root for him all the same. I am curious, have you met Carnac yet?

Oh Rachel, I almost didn't recognize you with your new avatar. Very nice.

Toreth is obsessed with his skin products and Warrick likes the result. I get the feeling that Toreth may have been a bit pretty when he was young, at the retraining center. Didn't Gee call him an angel or something like that?

Hi Margot, glad you found this group. Wow, you go way back with TA, a true early adopter. I haven't read FSOG, but I understand that it is pretty bad, especially when compared to Manna Francis's writing. It's funny to consider Warrick and Toreth's relationship healthy, but they are honest (for the most part) and up front (for the most part) about things. So yeah, I can see it.

What a coup Katinka! I am so looking forward to next week.

Ilhem, so excited to see the blog do something on TA! And happy to contribute to the project. I can't imagine a TA word cloud without a gigantic FUCK in the middle.
For three words:
smutty mind foodQuote 1: The opening line of Chapter 2 in Game, Set:
"The surprise wasn't that Carnac wasn't particularly good at blowjobs, it was that he was willing to give them at all. They broke two rules which Toreth had come to see as central to the socioanalyst's entire existence: they stopped him talking, and they interrupted the illusion that the world, solar system and probably entire galaxy revolved solely around him."I love this line because the author just drops you right into that scene without any special setup or caveats. I also love Carnac and the whole absurdity of the liaison setup and how the sex part was the least of Toreth's complaints.
Quote 2: the ending of Then and Now:
"Let me fuck you," Toreth said suddenly.
The peculiar phrasing caused a near-disastrous hesitation. Warrick covered it by sliding over to Toreth—bringing them together now sex had made it permissible.
This one is a great illustration of the emotional tango that Toreth and Warrick dance to keep their relationship at the right balance.
Really, there are so many more quotes, especially from FATW and Pancakes, but I assume others will contribute those. Good luck.

Oh Tere, thanks. I haven't checked her LJ lately and yes there is some progress. Not sure how to interpret her last entry. It sounds like she needs to trick herself into finishing by the end of the year.

Hello Denisse, glad to have you here. I have been thinking about doing a re-read as well. There are rumors that a book 8 is being written and we are all waiting for it like little kids waiting for Christmas. It can't come soon enough!

So true Casey. SF got under my skin as well, even though Mercs and Veterans are not considered masterpieces. I think it was the powerful impact of Soldiers that kept me engaged through the whole series.

I really liked the Definitive Albert Sterne. I am drawn to misfits, so Albert was right up my alley.

I like to joke about Dilly being annoying, but I have to agree with Steel. Dolly's initial concerns are well meaning. I'm pretty sure she did not know about Warrick's kink and certainly didn't have any clue that it was consensual with safe words and such. If I noticed bruises on one of my sibs, I would be concerned.

Yikes, now I'mma scared of KatieMc. Let's run for it! LoL!
@KatieMc, you know I'm kidding right? You're awesomesauce!"Thanks SyFy... Toreth has twisted me and sometimes makes me want to exert oppressive moderator powers on the newbies. Really, I am just a big puppy floating in a pool.

Hello Syfy... Since you and Casey sneaked in without an invite, we will have to think of some good Administration themed hazing for you. Perhaps we can require you to spend the weekend with Dilly.

Rachel, thanks for bringing your thoughts over to this thread. I agree with you and Kat that with Toreth, the diagnosis is really unimportant. If Warrick is ok with him, that's enough for me.
