107978 There are free epub converters online that I have had mixed results with. Calibre is one. I'll look up the others when I get on my laptop. I have had the best results just downloading the epub from Nook after I publish, but if you only want to do a couple chapters, a free converter would be more practical. I'll get back to you.

107978 Thanks again! Last time I asked a GR librarian to fix it, but I didn't know what they did to fix it. I will try what you suggest tomorrow. :-)

107978 Hey, another productive day - even after driving 7 hours, I got in about 800 more words, and made some improvements to the prologue based on some critique I received. Feeling pretty good, but I need to sleep now. Good night.

107978 Oh, and on the Nokotas, I believe the government decided they were a nuisance living on public lands, and felt they didn't want to support them any more. I don't know if they had a budget or something that got cut.... There is a lot of information out there that I haven't gotten to, yet. So much to do, so little time....

107978 Yes. Thanks. I'll make that change this weekend. It might also give me that bump you were talking about.

107978 I did some giveaways, which is where I got most shelvings. It says 'read book', but I believe it stops at 20% or so. I would love to have someone check that out. The only one that shouldn't be an excerpt is The Musician & the Alien - that one is a free read, since it is a short.

Just some future character ready to come out!

107978 Thanks! I'll have to give it a shot. I have two chapter teasers in my writings, but I can't tell if anyone sees them.

107978 I like the way you think.
I like to throw the worst case scenario at my characters and let them tell me what they would do to get out of it. And it makes things more interesting when what they would do doesn't exactly work.

107978 Yes, P.S., the hero is the ex-con. I almost gave up a spoiler from the first book. (Not a huge one - I'll spill if you want.) ;-)

107978 Great to hear, P.S.!
Suspense just makes everything tastier to me. I find it hard not to add elements of suspense in the stories I write.

107978 My second Suspense novel, Blinding Justice, is for sale and available in Nook and Kindle format for $3. You can save even more by buying direct from me. See my website for more details. www.kristicramerbooks.com (Paperbacks are also available from my website.)

This suspenseful story has a dash of Romance.

Detective Mitzi Reardon doesn’t know what she did to anger her boss, but he is gunning for her. Literally. Now a prostitute is dead, and she is the prime suspect with the law hot on her heels. With nowhere to run and no one to trust, Mitzi’s only hope lies in the hands of a sexy stranger.

Blue Thomas is a stranger in Denver. The bright lights and big city bustle are 250 miles and a world away from his family’s cattle ranch in Kansas, and he is out of his element. He came to find work and save the ranch from foreclosure, but on a rainy night a desperate woman finds him. Back home, he would never let anyone—especially a woman—face danger alone. Without fully understanding what he is in for, Blue pledges his help, whether she wants it or not.

As a trap closes around them, Mitzi must abandon her usual strategy of careful planning and situation management, instead relying on quick thinking and a bold, head-on approach that may just get her—and Blue—killed. Before the last bullet flies, Blue will find out just how far he is willing to go to live up to his old-school ideals of gallant chivalry.

When kidnap victim Cassandra Reyes meets Alaskan bush pilot Nicolas Knight, she doesn't know if she should trust him, or run like hell.

Cassandra Reyes wakes up in a hotel in Juneau, Alaska, with no notion of where she is or why. Cassie recalls only vague flashes of the events that landed her a thousand miles from her Seattle Office, but what she does remember leads her to the realization that she was kidnapped by mistake. When she meets bush pilot Nicolas Knight, she doesn’t know if he truly is just a compassionate stranger, or if he was somehow involved in her abduction.

Nick Knight is baffled by the beautiful woman he encounters in Juneau. Although he finds her hauntingly vulnerable, he is also struck by her remarkable strength, and when he learns Cassie’s story, he decides to help her. Cassie convinces Nick that if her abductors aren’t stopped, they will keep looking for their intended target. Together, Cassie and Nick find themselves risking their lives to protect a stranger from being kidnapped… or worse

107978 I think most stories have elements of suspense in them. This is why I read. I want to know how the characters in the story are going to deal with what I suspect is coming next.

I realize that doesn't automatically mean that they should market them all as suspense. I mean, readers want to know what happens to Scarlet O'Hara when the war starts, but if they had called it a suspense, readers would have been disappointed.

This group doesn't have to be limited to just Hitchcock-style suspense in the strictest sense. I want to include writings that have suspenseful elements, even if the primary genre of the story is different. Romance, or paranormal, YA or NA, Mystery or Historical. Heck, even non fiction.

If you like to sit on the edge of your seat when reading a book, you are most welcome here.

If you like to write a story that makes your reader sit on the edge of their seat, even if only in a scene or two, then you are welcome here, too!
