Shapeshifting

This is true for the students at Eoghan Academy of Magic, which is located in the 'ruins' of a castle in the Scottish Highlands. The students that attend this school are not entirely 'normal.' Their souls aren't that of a human, and each are linked to an ancient and powerful force of nature. The current Headmaster had devoted this school to a sacred cause: to locate long lost artifacts of magic and bring them into the school, to strengthen the school's power in the world of magic. But there are consequences, because when objects of power are brought together in masses, they generate a beacon, a beacon that now stirs a sleeping evil. What fate awaits you here, at the Academy of Magic?

[close] You didn't know what adventures, terrors, and dangers that you brought upon yourself when you came aboard the newest cruise ship, Wavey Sea. You thought you were going for a relaxing trip to the Bermuda, but instead your vacation turned into a trip of horror when the ship mysteriously wrecks during a fierce storm, and you along with many others are forced to retreat onto the shelter of a lonely island in the middle of the Bermuda triangle. The survivors collapse onto the sandy beaches of the island, soaking wet, shivering from the fierce winds, and exhausted. Little do they know what lays ahead. You hear strange noises in the middle of the night, you find yourself doing things you never would have before - inhuman things. Your senses sharpen, you are constantly hungry no matter how much you eat, you start to get wild urges, and the changes begin. You are no longer fully human, but part beast as well. And the longer you remain in your animal shape, the harder it is to control it.

Dragons are powerful creatures, whom are able to travel among us in plain sight, due to their ability to shapeshift between their mighty winged form, and the form of a mortal. These ledgendary creatures are dedicated to protecting mankind, and the vanishing wildernesses, though there are those who like nothing more then to destroy mankind and become the dominating speacies.

[close] Numerous different types of shapeshifters exist in the world. There is a distinction between lycanthropes, which include solely persons infected by contact with another lycanthrope's bodily fluids, and shapeshifters, a class that includes both lycanthropes and persons who are able to shapeshift as a result of magic, such as a personal or family curse. In this universe, lycanthropes are barred from certain professions and can in fact still be killed on sight in some states. The status of non-lycanthrope shapeshifters, being far more rare, is less clear. To what extent, if any, human society recognizes the authority of lycanthrope social groups (packs, pards, etc.)--whether criminal acts undertaken at the order of one's alpha might be regarded as actions taken under duress, for instance-—is similarly unclear.
