[close] Author Kathleen Irene Paterka's first novel, FATTY PATTY, weaves a sweet love story while examining various issues that stem from being overweight. Kathleen knows all about what it's like to be 'fat' (she weighed over 300 lbs. in high school). Though she lost the weight more than 30+ years ago, she's never forgotten how a woman's self-esteem is affected by her body image, and how society views those who carry extra pounds. You can't choose your family but you can choose your man. Who wants an overweight boyfriend when you're struggling with overweight issues yourself? Kathleen would love to hear from readers, and answer any questions about her own weight loss struggles, and what it's like to live in a society that worships thin.
