[close] 1 in [8 to 15] kids have a learning difference, like dyslexia, ADHD, dysgraphia (handwriting), dyscalculia (math), auditory processing disorder, or sensory processing disorder. Other children have challenges with slow processing, executive function, social skills, or working memory. It's easy for these kids to fall through the cracks, but there are books to help! This group is for parents of children who have problems learning in school, even if it seems like "nothing." The author of Fine Until Kindergarten: A Parent's First Guide to Learning Differences shares some of her source books and looks for input from other parents.

[close] This group was created with the intention of connecting with other primary/ preschool teachers ❤️ Or, parents who enjoy reading to their children. Reading to my students is so important to me, not only for building foundational skills, but also to simply create a lifelong love for reading. Please share some classroom favorites!

All new(er) readers from K-2nd grade who are either enthusiastic about their new ability and book exploration or for those who might benefit from a little positive peer pressure and encouragement to read through age appropriate book discussion and fun-this is for you! Children will be encouraged to identify and discuss character roles, settings, plots, imagine alternative plots, their feelings about the story, any new words they learned from the book, and participate in voting for the following meetings’ stories. *Once a solid group, time, and meeting place has been established, we could alternate providing a healthy snack for the children if everyone agrees.
