[close] The Book Club of the Chicago AVEN (aka asexual and aromantic) group. Mainly created to keep track of potential reads, we meet roughly monthly. All monthly reads feature an Ace or Aro character. While we operate IRL in the suburbs of Chicago, anyone is welcome to join the GR group and start a discussion! We've got a pretty robust bookshelf for those looking for Ace reads.

I'm trying to create a highly detailed bookshelf, which will hopefully make it easier for everyone to find books with specific representations. Please add more books to expand this database. [close] We're a new group building a reliable bookshelf-database of Crime Fiction, Indie Fiction, Science Fiction, Erotica, Poetry, and all other books that MENTION and REVEL in cursing, sex, criminal activities of all kinds, violence, dubious sexual consent, and other adult themes that go with the theme of the book we're reading without ZERO warnings. The term "trigger" is a bad word in this group. After all, we're fucking ADULTS. We're inspired by authors like Charles Bukowski and Donald Goines who lived their pain through their very real uncensored works, who would have never had a chance to express themselves alongside others had all this political correct bullshit had of existed in their time. We reserve every author has a right to freedom of speech and expression, under the moniker that every author has a right to tell the story they want to tell and defend their right to tell it even if we DO NOT AGREE WITH IT. We do not pass judgement as long as they are being true to their character. So yes, if you're a Klansman or a Black Panther writing a doctrine of racial purity we MIGHT NOT AGREE WITH IT but we will put it in a special section for those who DO. And if that is too much for adult readers to grasp then they need to see themselves to the Dr. Seuss section. This is a thread for grown folks that aren't outraged every time uncomfortable themes scares them in their little corner of the earth. Join our long term project by sharing your recent reads in our monthly chat. Once a month we update the bookshelf database but recommendations are welcome everyday of the year!
