Born and raised in Canada, Nancy was drawn to far-off destinations from a young age. She wove together a career in professional accounting and international business, living and working among such varied places as Australia, Oman, Switzerland and Nigeria.

Nancy's most recent book, a suspense novel dedicated to her dad, is a twisting tale set in Malta. Follow a handful of characters in their race to unravel a series of mysterious events that are somehow linked to the fragile state of world affairs in The Man in the Barretina Hat. Her earlier books are nonfiction and uncover off-the-beaten-track travel destinations including a trek in far-eastern Bhutan and castles steeped with lore and scattered across the Baltics in Searching for Unique and

That is a tricky question, there are so many great places each for different reasons.
For an amazing culture, friendly people, unique and colourful architecture and excellent trekking - Bhutan.
For kind people, a serene atmosphere and breaking cultural stereotypes- Oman
For hiking - Tasmania with Patagonia as a strong second place contender
For beaches - Mozambique and Australia tied
For game parks - South Africa
For pristine nature - Antarctica

Hi Shahad,
Thanks for your question. I'll answer it from two perspectives.

Beginner reading level: The book would be fine for someone with grade seven and up reading level.

Beginner traveller: There is a mix of travel styles in the book, some of which will be perfect for a beginner and some which you might want to avoid. You can pick and choose what seems appealing to your comfort level. For example, a tour through Namibia and Botswana would be ideal for a first time visit to Africa. Other useful sections for a new traveller, depending on your interests, would to the forts of Oman, game parks in South Africa, Ephesus in Turkey or hiking in Patagonia or Grindelwald. However, I would not suggest a beginner traveller go to the temple of Prasat Preah Vihear in northern Cambodia as it is tricky to get to on your own. Also, it is not a good time to visit Sana'a, Yemen given the current military situation.

Hope that helps your decision
