I don't think you have to read them in order (other than 17,18,19 since they are part of a 3 story arc) , but I highly recommend starting with Killing Floor. The first 3 paragraphs are still one of the coolest things I've ever read from this type of genre. Awesome start to a book. There are a few important physical elements to be aware of:
A. Front Cover. Usually has a picture, the title and the authors names
B. Back Cover. Here you will find reviews, a bar code and possible a synopsis.
C. Pages. Thin flats of paper stacked with words on them. These must be addressed in order.
D. Spine. This is important. This holds everything together.

Step I. Place the book on a flat surface with the back cover making immediate contact with the flat surface.
Step 2. Reposition the book so that the spine is facing left.
Step 3. With you left index finger and thumb left the bottom righthand corner of the front cover to the point where the front cover is laying face down on the flat surface.

The book is now open.
