Then she comes waltzing in saying she’s going to Williams! A friend and I rewrote the ending having the last chapter in Lily’s voice, talking about Maya coming over, tripping at the top of the stairs and then it all went black and silent.(less)

Considering Jordan was supposed to be a top defense attorney and his wife a top investigator, they certainly didn't do a very good job. The way it came out in court that Lily was trans was completely fake. It would have shown in the autopsy report that both female and male sex organs were absent (or mostly absent) and probably an explanation why. A pathologist/part time ME would not have said "I thought you knew" to explain why he didn't mention it in the autopsy report. Also, how is it that Maya's fingerprints were not found anywhere in Lily's room despite the fact she texted on Lily's phone and they struggled over it in the room?(less)

If the book had repeatedly mentioned her mom and dad, no one would bat an eye. And yes, Olivia had an abortion without telling her abusive husband. Again, these things happen in real life. Instead of being upset with the authors for writing about these issues or the characters who take these actions, we should be upset at the abusive spouses that push women to make choices that they otherwise may not have.(less)

Maya's possessiveness & lack of boundaries with Asher clued me in that she was actually in love with him...but seriously, I found all the teen angst/sexuality so boring in a (supposedly) adult novel, & Maya came off as a psychopath.(less)
