2015 - See Your Year in Books!

Posted by Suzanne on December 16, 2015
With just over two weeks to go until the end of 2015, it’s time to ask: How was your year in books? Did you read more than last year? What was the longest book you read?

Because so many of you love seeing Your Year in Books, we had a great time creating a fun, new design this year. Don’t keep it to yourself! Share it with your friends and spark a conversation about the books you’ve read.

To see Your Year in Books, click here!

"But it’s not the end of the year yet!" we hear some of you say. Never fear! Your Year in Books will keep updating until the very last moment of 2015. If you have plans to squeeze in some holiday reading and don’t want to peek until then, Your Year in Books will be waiting patiently.

Was it a good year of reading for you? What was the book you loved in 2015 that you wish more people would discover?<

Mitali I love the graph - so awesome! :)

My year in reading has been a mixed bag. I did achieve some of the goals I set for myself - I read more books than my Reading Challenge goal, and I read more pages than I did last year. I also read a higher proportion of non-fiction than I did last year, of which I'm quite proud. I also embarked on a re-reading project of my favourite book series, the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. Well, technically, I started re-reading some of the books last year, but I really decided to do a full-scale re-read this year, after Pratchett passed away earlier this year.

However, I feel that there are some goals that I've lagged behind in. There were a number of books that I intended to read this year, but never got around to. There are some good books that I started, but just couldn't finish. I hope to get around to these in 2016.

Anastasia aka Taurendil Awesome! I haven't quite completed my challenge and probably won't have time to do that anymore. This year I read two books (third coming) that I had read before, some classics, some from my tbr-list, I had a go for Jules Verne which left a positive mark, read the Christmas Carol way before Christmas, and discovered new stories... I want to recommend The Goose Girl for anyone interested. It was an amazing book!
Keep calm and keep on reading, folks!

Sinta Can I request for us who didn't complete the challenge and still can be showed?
I've complete the challenge last year, but I can't put the last book due to some circumtances, and sadly I can't see My Challenge :(

Barb this year was tough. So busy with work and personal life this is the worse I have done. I have my challenge set at 160 and I'm still behind 3 books but hopefully I'll make it to 160 by the end of year. Read some real good books this year though. Anyone interested check out my read challenge for all 5 star and 4 star books. My participation was also not up to participate but I'm making a promise to step my game back up in 2016. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year God's willing. ."

Try reading to a few kids for the holidays! Great way to get your count up, and share a few holiday classics with some little ones. I'm sure even the most hardcore gamer will turn down the volume (or even put down the controller!) to listen to someone read. Never fails to draw a crowd of chillin's when I do it!

Blessings!

Velda Dedeaux After a disappointing 2014, I am happy to report that 2015 was a good year for reading. I've completed my challenge and going beyond by reading Christmas stories which is how I end every year! Thanks, Goodreads, for including this tool!!!

Thanks for your suggestion-- I've let our design team know you want this!

Erma Talamante Hey, Shaun! Thanks for all the responses. Any chance of seeing if the devo team can look into a 'Printer Capable' or 'Print Page' button for those of us who love it so much we want to share?

Thanks in advance!

As this is a brand new feature, it's not available for previous years (before 2015). Thanks for your feedback on this though-- I've let the design team know.

message 180: by Sharon (new)

Sharon I love this. One reason is that book covers mean a lot to me. I also like that Goodreads selects what covers to enlarge! Mine is so pretty. One question -- what link do I use to post My Year in Books to the Goodreads Twitter page?

message 181: by Gordon (new)

Gordon My year in books page keeps coming up as "page unavailable". Any help?

Is this also true for the regular "stats" too?

Also if an audiobook has "8 pages" represent in the number of hours, will year in books still count hardcover?

Hey I'm Kennedy)! I'm doing a project for my psychology class where I have to test the relationship between two things. I've chosen to test whether bookworms have a higher GPA (as people perceive them to) and I need my fellow booklovers for help! I need to survey 50 people so could you please tell me the number of books you read last year and your GPA? I would really appreciate it!

Carol Fix I never saw an answer to the question: Can I see my year in review for past years?
Also, I would like to have access to my year in review all year long. The thing I like the most is the larger cover art for the more highly rated books. How do I access the previous years?

message 190: by Carol (new)

Carol Fix I ended up posting it to Facebook, where I can go back and link to it anytime after it ends. It's February now and I don't see the banner asking me to see my year in books, so I suppose it runs every year through January and then is gone.Ms.Guering wrote: "Can you Print it out?"

Hi Kennedy, I have been out of school for many, many years, so I can't help you with my GPA. But I think readers are some of the smartest, most empathetic folks on the planet!
Good luck on your project!
