2015 - See Your Year in Books!

Posted by Suzanne on December 16, 2015
With just over two weeks to go until the end of 2015, it’s time to ask: How was your year in books? Did you read more than last year? What was the longest book you read?

Because so many of you love seeing Your Year in Books, we had a great time creating a fun, new design this year. Don’t keep it to yourself! Share it with your friends and spark a conversation about the books you’ve read.

To see Your Year in Books, click here!

"But it’s not the end of the year yet!" we hear some of you say. Never fear! Your Year in Books will keep updating until the very last moment of 2015. If you have plans to squeeze in some holiday reading and don’t want to peek until then, Your Year in Books will be waiting patiently.

Was it a good year of reading for you? What was the book you loved in 2015 that you wish more people would discover?<

See Your Year in Books!

Elizabeth This is lovely :)

Joanne When I first checked it, there was a category of "most popular book read" and "least popular book read", which was neat. Wondering why it was removed?

LOL . This was so well put. Your perspective has to be appreciated. But I thought it was a tad bit bitter.

It would be really nice to see the reader tagged based on the diversity. I never liked being judged on the numbers, but this could be great.. "Seeker of Knowledge" for the ones with more diversity , "Big Funny Bone" for the ones who have mostly read the books in the Humor genre.

Great idea! I've sent it through to the design team for consideration.

message 59: by Vicki (new)

Vicki How do I share my year to Facebook? I clicked the Share button, it faded to indicate an action, and then nothing. The FB symbol is on the right but it doesn't click. ??

message 60: by Zaz (new)

Zaz Vicki > The share button adds your year on your GR timeline! For Facebook, when I click on the big blue F, it opens a box to post it there.

message 61: by Angelica (new)

Angelica It looks awesome and it is indeed very informative!!!
Great feature! Thanks!!!

Yes, why was "most popular book read" and "least popular book read" removed? I liked that feature as well.

Katherine I love it!
And I wish that all books in different years I could be similar to 2015. And see it every time I want, not just once :)

Vicki Zaz wrote: "Vicki > The share button adds your year on your GR timeline! For Facebook, when I click on the big blue F, it opens a box to post it there."

Thanks, I wondered where the Share sent it. The Facebook button doesn't work on mine. Perhaps I have somehow blocked it with popups or extensions.

message 65: by Valerie (new)

Valerie It is pretty, but I'd rather see a little more information, maybe some sorting by rating, common tags, how my ratings compared to those at large, how popular each book was overall, etc.

I'm a dorky data girl.

BookOfCinz This is really really cool!!!!! Thanks so much for doing this!

Lanko Hello, I want to ask for the possibility of clicking on a person's name or the option to send a friend invite.
I participate in a book forum and we were posting our My Year in Books, but I can't add friends through there.

EDIT: I just realized you can click on the profile picture of the user to do that. Probably should allow to do the same on the name!

Your books are not marked as "read" but "added", it's why they don't show. Go on My Books > Read shelf. Then on the "date read" column, use all the "edit" to put the dates. To avoid the problem, use the "currently reading" while you read a book, then mark it as "read" when you finish it, it will set the right date automatically (you can also do both of them the same day).

Me too. I spent the entire month of February and into March reading fan fic and could only manage to get one zine onto my list of books read.

message 84: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Price OMG!!! Goodreads team, You've created a Beautiful year in books layout for us and I love it so much I wish I had ink in my printer so I could print it and hang it on my wall. It's truly beautiful. Thank you so much! It's been an extraordinary year in books and I've been saying that since January with The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins by Paula Hawkins A gripping , suspenseful, twisty *cliche warning* edge of your seat read! All time fave.

The longest book for me was: Broken Promise (Promise Falls, #1) by Linwood Barclay by Linwood Barclay who became one of my favorite authors last year with No Safe House (No Time For Goodbye, #2) by Linwood Barclay "Broken Promise" is another winner.

One I'd Love and will continue to promote forever is Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave by Laura Dave whose book isn't a book at all......it's a work of art, a painting, a story painted so vibrant with turmoil, struggle, hope, redemption, second chances, family and Love. A book so Beautiful and relatable. One that got into my Heart forever ago it seems and hasn't lost a single bit of its profound impact in my Heart. It never will and the author will probably wish I'd shut up about it across the Internet, but this is a gem and gift which hasn't gotten nearly the attention it deserves so very much.

I have many more I want to add soooo I'll be back. For now, thank you for such an awesome "Year In Books" layout. Beautiful, Beautiful, Love it! Thank you and thank you for making it your blog choice. Wonderful to be able to express thanks and happiness over this with the entire Goodreads community.

message 86: by JumbleofJargon (new)

JumbleofJargon Hello bibliophiles! This is my 1st year on Goodreads, I think I made this account sometime in 2014. I'm happy I kept up with it because I'm close to finishing my reading challenge and "My Year in Books" is just BEAUTIFUL. This is incredible - I've never encountered a community like this or a platform dedicated to reading - the thing I care about most. So thanks Goodreads and Goodreads friends, it was a great year! =D

Glad to hear you're enjoying yourself here! Goodreads launched in January 2007 and we've been happily reading ever since.

It's best to please send a message to our support team about this! We can then investigate what's going on there.

message 94: by Cyl (new)

Ah, well...there is 2016.

message 95: by Pam (new)

Pam I like this but can't get it up on Goodreads.

message 96: by Cobagibu (new)

Cobagibu I can't believe that I read over 20,000 pages this year (not counting textbooks for school)... don't think I'll be meeting the challenge... at 73 and stated would read 75 and right now reading foucault's pendulum which is over 600 pages... but still, WOW!!!!

May start listening to audiobooks, but there is just something about having an actual book (hardback preferably) in your hands....

message 97: by Amber (new)

Amber i loved this. thank you Goodreads!
