message 51: by 我不要咖啡 (new)

我不要咖啡 It was a good laugh to read this, totally agree with all. :) I'd also volunteer for membership at the grammar police.

message 52: by Emilou (new)

Emilou I am totally going to do number 8 for my children. That's how it should be.

As for the one about tea, not everyone likes tea. For me, it would be chocolate.

A lot of these make a lot of sense if more people were book lovers.

message 53: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Hicks Well, I must say, I agree with every point made! I often fantasize about the very comments mentioned. Imagine a world of intellectual people reading and highly educated. We could set this world on fire! Oooh the possibilities!

message 54: by S. K. (new)

S. K. Pentecost #6! #6!

message 55: by [deleted user] (new)

I love this list. Camp Half-Blood would be a real camp. Hogwarts a real school. etc.

Books would have glow in the dark ink and would be waterproof.

Everything would be safe for books.

IDEA: A book lover needs to be president of the U.S.

HOW AWESOME WOULD THAT BE?

THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

message 56: by Ravi (new)

Ravi Kumar I would love to live in such a world...Bibliophiles rule the world....Methinks many new ideas to solve umpteen issues plaguing the world will emerge..I would be zillion times richer with my trusted companions...Books !

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* I love this list, especially the whimsy of #24

message 58: by Alexander (last edited Sep 29, 2015 12:04PM) (new)

Alexander I must admit, I agree with most of the list, sounds like my kind of paradise.

message 59: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Books would be cheaper. I could buy as many as I want.

message 60: by Pollo (new)

Pollo 2 y 14 geniales!

message 61: by Inken (new)

Inken How about you could claim book purchases on your tax returns :-D?

message 62: by ben (new)

ben #4!! Everyone tells me to jump over to ebooks as the 2,000 volumes in my apartment are eating up all the space. But I refuse to switch over, #4 would make that possible! Read the physical copy then donate to someone else and have the ebook for any future readings!

message 63: by Tashy (new)

Tashy Jones 19 and 22 would be perfect, but let's face it, if biliophiles ruled the world nothing would ever happen, we'd all be too busy reading to get any of this done

message 64: by Mya (new)

Mya Writers will be the celebrities of the world.

message 65: by Luke (new)

Luke Marsden The X-Factor would be about books instead of music.

message 66: by Elisa Santos (new)

Elisa Santos I could identify myself in all of the items on the list.

For the poster that is a librarian and that the 24 h shcedule for the library is a bit too much? Well, why not have an auto-lending service? So, it would be like the cofee-vending machines or such - it would keep the lending of the books going smooth and without an actual person on the wee hours of the night.

I think that series and movies on books should remain and be re-inforced - it would be reality tv that would be banned, because nobody would want to watch those dimwits squable over who has the bigger pecks or who had more GF´s or BFF´s,right?

Otherwise, i think that books should be more affordable and tax deductible. Oh and getting a rainy day at home to read - heaven!

Summing up - i want it all!

message 67: by Jen (new)

Jen B Every book store would have at least five book release parties a year! (Preferably NOT at midnight, though).

message 68: by Alina (new)

Alina Several are very good, by my favorite is no. 10
"There would be a book hour in addition to a lunch hour at work every day."

message 71: by Angee (new)

Angee Sluder Lauren wrote: "I love number 8. Why did my parents never do this for me?!"

Because, if they had, you would have been pulling your teeth out with pliers!

message 72: by Angee (new)

Angee Sluder Sahil wrote: "Like Health and Car insurance, we would also have a book insurance."

Right? Or at least we would have books that would be safe to read near a bathtub.

message 73: by Coty (new)

Coty Laura wrote: "No more tired arms: there would finally be a device that holds your book above your face while you are lying down reading. And it doesn't look ugly."
Oh, it exist. I've got one of them.

message 74: by Angee (new)

Angee Sluder Elise wrote: "Bookstores would never go out of business. I was so sad when we lost Borders. Bookstores seem to be going extinct, and it will be truly terrible if that day ever comes. :(

I echo the shopping cart..."

You'd love my town. We have six bookstores and five libraries. Two of the bookstores even specialize in rare books.

Trisa (Absolute Bookishness) This is great!!! You would think certain things like #4 and #25 would be in effect already.

message 76: by Allison (new)

Allison Saying, "I'm writing a book," to someone would not be followed by, "Oh my gosh, seriously?" It would be a normal thing.

message 77: by Allison (new)

Allison Laura wrote: "Women's jeans pockets would be big enough to hold a paperback."

YES. I don't think it's fair that my guy friends can all fit books in their pockets while I can barley fit my ipod in mine.

message 78: by Francine (new)

Francine Vanalottiel wrote: "It shouldn't be a national holiday everyday a book comes out because otherwise everyday would be a day off. Other than that, this list is awesome!"

Where I work we get 5 personal holidays. All readers need to get an allowance of a certain number of days each year where they can take off for the release of a book that they just must read as soon as it is released. Like just for Nora Roberts/JD Robb I'd need five days a year. :)

message 79: by Alana (new)

Alana Number 25 would be pretty awesome. Not gonna lie.

message 80: by Keni (new)

Keni I love all of these! I think my favorite is #24! LOL!

message 81: by Jeff (new)

Jeff French Yeah #22- Calling in tired cause I was up late finishing a book. I've been tempted so many times to do that. Just one more chapter and before you know it, it's 2:00 am.

message 82: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I love #1. I live near Seattle! :)

message 83: by Vina Danica (new)

Vina Danica 6, 7, 10, 12 <3, 14, and 20 <3 The best !

message 84: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Antoon Cormier I would adore, in this improved book centric world, to have the power in my dreams to reenter the worlds created by my favorite books, and have the adventures continue, with my own participation. One childhood neighborhood I would like to visit for a Saturday afternoon, is Booth Tarkington's Penrod and Sam. I can hear the tinny, sepia toned laughter of kids running and whacking and getting into mischief, with that dry, amused adult narration that so charmed me as a girl, as an actual dream voice-over.

message 85: by Elisa (new)

Elisa no 12 and no 20

message 86: by M (new)

M Great list, except I have been paid to read... and copy edit.

message 87: by sunshine (new)

message 88: by Joseph (last edited Sep 29, 2015 07:47PM) (new)

Joseph 20. "A tree would be planted for every book published." Or for every book read. If only that were possible, I could bring back whole forests all by myself. :-)

message 89: by Hannah (new)

Hannah No one would forget Eeyore on his birthday ever again.

message 90: by Linda (new)

Adding that when in a relationship......an absolutely perfect relationship......totally, fairy tale in love perfect in every single way......is destroyed at first knowledge that your significant other doesn't read *gasp, scream, cry* would have to attend mandatory therapy sessions provided by the people *us* governing book geeks, nerds, freaks & devoted book lovers, to the offender (a.k.a. the one who doesn't read at all). It's like a Seinfeld episode, lol.

"You had me at Hello" :)
"You Lost me at I don't read"???????!!!!!! >:(
