Mmmmm I think I prefer the previous homepage too. Seems like more 'work' to see what you want to now.

mine is great now, thanks! now if only my phone itself would stop being a jerk.

message 107: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Android update PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

message 108: by Christine (new)

Christine Please tell me that the android version will include publication info. It is a pain to be in the app, looking up a new book but then remember you have to go on your internet browser to see when it is going to be released and by whom. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to know when a sequel to my favorite series is going to be published!

Mine is fixed too. Thanks very much:0)

message 110: by Kenneth (new)

Kenneth Zhu We need Windows Phone App and Android app updated. As Goodreads is growing...people will need it...this is an issue to all the people around the world so I would be much appreciated if you updated as soon as possible. Thanks

message 111: by Lady Salford (new)

Lady Salford I've yet to see a proper update for the Android app. We didn't even get an updated UI!

message 112: by [deleted user] (new)

very good, great updates actually
keep it up :)

message 113: by Colin (new)

Colin YES PLEASE TO THE ANDROID UPDATE. I've been waiting a million years for this! Please tell me it's coming soon!

message 114: by S©aP (new)

S©aP I love it. It works perfectly (no bugs so far) and it is much closer to what I expected from an app to be used when far from laptop. Tks.

message 115: by Inger (new)

Inger The android app needs A LOT of work. When we get the update will the app have finally the same coverage as the iOS app?

message 116: by Danielle (new)

Danielle Hamilton The android app is so buggy... cannot wait for a decent upgrade on it!

message 117: by Persephani (new)

Persephani The android app is really bad. i can't wait for an update

message 118: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Love this update! It's working great for me. Thanks.

message 119: by Jason (new)

Jason Definitely would love to see a universal Windows app. The 3rd party apps leave a lot to be desired.

message 120: by Per Gunnar (new)

Per Gunnar I am afraid that could not care less about this announcement.

I am waiting (hoping) for a Windows 8 app.

message 121: by Danya (new)

Danya How about a fully functional Android app?

message 122: by Jesús (new)

Jesús Macedo I'll be here waiting for the android update.

Helena Martínez La Estantería Roja Something that I specially miss in the app is the release dates!

message 124: by Beau (new)

Beau I'd like the ability to change a book's position in my to-read list.

message 125: by Rayne (new)

Rayne Don't like it much.

Notifications are hidden further in the app. And I can't load a friend's shelf from their profile page.

We still didn't get the reply with quote or a way to link books/authors in posts. Two things I was really hoping for.

Looks like this update was nothing but changes in navigation, which didn't help me much.

message 126: by miguel (new)

miguel Hopefully you will be giving the Android app with Android L's Material Design look!

message 127: by Kimmo (new)

Kimmo Windows Phone app, please!!!

JP Capili Zeeshan wrote: "Waiting for Android app!!!!"

The android app interface has not been updated for months. I hope they start working on it.

message 129: by Ian (new)

Ian It's much better than the old app.

It used to drive me insane that you couldn't read comments made on your feed (only the first few lines of a comment would show on the app).

I noticed that I still can't move beyond the first page of comments which is a problem for reviews with a lot of comments and hopefully gets fixed at some stage.

message 130: by Veraa (new)

Veraa Create one for windows phone users plz so i can force my mum to be even more on this site :D

Anyway, i updates my app and when i entered my page number it accepted it and it's also on the site. but my progress bar is still at 0% and i tried updating it on the website but it still remained broken? :/

message 131: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Young waiting for a windows app

message 132: by Aseel (new)

Aseel android users of Arabic language

message 133: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 I do NOT like the new home page - I do NOT like having to go off and hunt for the list to take me to my updates and groups. It is horrible - although it could be worse i could be a window user!!!

I would like something useful - like being able to reply to a particular comment in my groups and not have to scroll ALL the way down to the botton of the page to find the comment box - I find it is all too hard and I just dont bother to reply at all. Can't even copy and paste into the comment so the person knows what I am replying to.

did I say I DID'NT like the new update?

Get rid of that home page and put the buttons back

Brent Brooke wrote: "Lorcan wrote: "Any sign of a Windows Phone App?"

Yes, there is, but Goodreads doesn't make it. It's nice to have an official app, even though SR is pretty good. I understand that WP's market share is even smaller than iOS's, but if market share was important, why didn't they make the Android app their priority? Also, Windows apps are now universal so making the WP app would be mostly the same work as making the Windows app, and if you care about market share that's the computer OS to be on.

message 136: by Ebony (new)

Ebony that look good

message 137: by Patrik (new)

Patrik I'd rather finally meet the Windows Phone app.

message 138: by . (new)

. is there ever going to be an android app update???

message 139: by Alec (new)

Alec I have to say I prefer the old layout. It was just more practical with easier access to notifications, messages, groups etc. Now all of those options have been hidden behind the 'more' section.

The visual update definitely looks good though I wish the entire app had been given the update rather than bits and pieces here and there.

message 140: by Alice (last edited Sep 26, 2014 05:39AM) (new)

Alice Bridgwater I don't like the new home, it should be more "compact", too much unused space, button "I want to read" too big.

(in my iPhone, I can see only two updates per page)

message 141: by Jerrod (new)

Jerrod Carter Windows phone? Next people are going to be asking for a Blackberry app, too...

message 142: by Carine (last edited Sep 26, 2014 06:57AM) (new)

Carine I liked the simple lay out of the old design, where you could choose where t go. I don't care to have a busy timeline with the updates from my friends. That's not what home should be.

message 143: by Thalia (new)

Alan great update!!

message 146: by Kerri (Book Hoarder) (last edited Sep 26, 2014 11:16AM) (new)

Kerri (Book Hoarder) How do I turn OFF the Facebook prompt that greets me everytime I launch the app? I don't want it linked to Facebook, and I can't see any way to turn this off. Then when I try to 'x' out of it, it always takes me into Facebook where I have to click cancel and be directed back to GR! :( Not happy.

I also don't understand why you took away the ability to do a 'general' update. I don't always want to update about a book itself...

message 147: by Emily (new)

Emily Helena Martínez wrote: "Something that I specially miss in the app is the release dates!"

If you visit a book's page, you should see the publication date there! Or are you referring to a different screen that the publication date no longer appears on?

We are working on redesigning the remaining pages and adding other features for our next release. It's really helpful to get the feedback about what you'd like to see in the app, so please keep posting.

Emily Ian wrote: "I noticed that I still can't move beyond the first page of comments which is a problem for reviews with a lot of comments and hopefully gets fixed at some stage."

Ian, this is great feedback. We will be working on redesigning the other pages in the app for future releases, hopefully including the review page. I'll let the team know about this.

Ellyce wrote: "are you going to get rid of the annoying Facebook icon that pops up with every single attempted status update or rating? I'm not even connected to Facebook on my iPad, and yet this pops up every single time in the app and is extremely irritating. I would like my Facebook and Goodreads to stay separate, thank you very much. while I know you guys are aiming for outreach and more awareness of Goodreads, this feels like a sellout and is extremely annoying and lessens my enjoyment and usage of the app overall. "

Hey Ellyce - I don't think I've experienced this behavior in the app yet. Are you seeing an independent Facebook popup when you rate a book, or are you seeing the Facebook button appear on the review popup instead?

I'm not Ellyce but I think I'm experiencing the same issue. What happens is that when I launch the app (after it has timed out and needs to reload) it has a 'Connect to Facebook' prompt at the top of the screen.

I don't have anything set up to link to Facebook on the main site, and I've turned off the 'let Facebook friends find you' option in the settings in the phone itself. :/

I've taken a screenshot but my image site isn't cooperating at the moment.

OH! I think I've figured this out. You can "X" out of the prompt at the top of the screen, but when I tried to tap the "X" the app thought I was actually touching the button. That took me to the "Add Friends" screen and sent me to Facebook.

It sounds like the "X" isn't as big as it needs to be, so we'll file a ticket to change that. For now, you can definitely get this off the feed: you just need to very precisely press the top right-hand corner of the box. Let me know if it refuses to behave.
