Easily Add Books You Purchased from Amazon to Your Goodreads Shelves! (Available for members in the U.S., Canada, and Australia)

Our members have been asking for a long time for a quick way to add their Amazon book purchases to their Goodreads shelves. So, we’ve come up with a new way to help: Today, we’re starting to roll out an Add Your Amazon Books feature! You can now add books you’ve purchased on Amazon – both print and Kindle books – to your Goodreads shelves. This will be available in the next few weeks to members in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
Why add your Amazon purchases?
- Building out your bookshelves means that more of your friends will know about your favorite books.
- More books added to your Goodreads shelves means better recommendations to help you find more great books to read. The super-smart algorithm powering our recommendations engine analyzes the books you rate to come up with the best book suggestions for your unique reading tastes.
- Do you remember every book you’ve read? This is a quick way to add more of those elusive books from your past to your Goodreads shelves—as well as books you’ve bought and are planning to read. Never forget a book again!

How do you know if you have the feature? You’ll see the Add Amazon Book Purchases link in the Tools list on the left hand side of the My Books page (and a small announcement at the top of the page). Click on either link and you’ll be asked to sign in to your Amazon account. You’ll then see your Amazon book purchases. You can go through and rate each book and select the appropriate shelf for it. We give you full control over which books to add so you can avoid adding any books bought as gifts. Any book not rated or added to a shelf will not be added to Goodreads.

Can’t wait to get started? If you are in the U.S., Canada, or Australia, you can get early access to the Add Your Amazon Books option by clicking this link:
It's fun to scroll through years and years of book purchases. You just might come across a book you loved but then forgot--it’s like seeing a long-lost friend!
Members in the U.S., Canada, and Australia can also use the Add Your Amazon Books option on Goodreads on Kindle Paperwhite (first and second generation devices) and the new Kindle Fires.
Let us know what you think about the Add Your Amazon Books feature. Did you rediscover any forgotten books?

Have a great day!

Same here - it didn't sync...

Thanks for the help!

Doubt it, sorry

When I click to link my amazon account it doesn't give me a choice of which amazon account to use (I have both .com and .co.uk accounts). I'm only able to log into amazon.com and when I do it says:
You currently do not have any Amazon book purchases to import.
Only books purchased on amazon.com, .ca, .co.uk, and .au sites may be viewed at this time.
If you purchased books from a different Amazon site, please try again soon!
Well that is not true, I've got a couple in my amazon.com account, but what I really want is to be able to link my amazon.co.uk account that has over 50 books!!

Feeling a bit insulted since I must have bought over a thousand books from Amazon by now.

I even tried moving my account to amazon.com, but guess what? It will only sync for all the purchases made on amazon.com. Well, fuck this.

Does anyone know of a way to do this with books that are in the DOCS part of kindle? I have been given many free books and they are emailed to me then I email them to my kindle email. They don't show up using this. I have several dozen to add and don't want to do it individually.
Also, anyone know of a way to add wishlist books on Amazon to goodreads?

Another question: I am trying to load mine, is there a way to select all as "Want to Read" instead of clicking that one every book?

I have the same question. I have over 600 books on my nook and would love to sync them with goodreads. I don't have the time to input each one individually.

I wouldn't think so since Amazon owns goodreads...just my opinion though.

i was importing my books from amazon to goodreads. it let me do some of them but not all of them. can you tell me how i can get them into a file from amazon so i can import them into goodreads, exactly what would i use to do this.

Yes, there's an importer available! You'll want to prepare your file in .csv, .xls, or .txt format and then upload it by following the steps below:
Note : We highly recommend checking out our sample file beforehand to get an idea of how the data should appear. This should prevent any import issues.
1. Log in to Goodreads and click on My Books in the header.
2. Click on "import/export" underneath your list of shelves.
3. Under Import from a File, click on “Choose file" and select the file from your computer.
4. Click on “Import Books.”
Voila!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing difficulty! To best assist you, please send a message to: support (at) goodreads (dot) com. We'll take a look!
Is there a way to sort the books purchased from Amazon - title, author or date purchased? I have hundreds of books that came over from Amazon, but they show up on Goodreads in no order I can discern. Similar to the books are in My Books, where settings allow you to customize.

Hi Barb! Right now there isn't a way to sort your books during the import phase. What you can do is sort after the Amazon -> Goodreads import has completed where your books would then appear on your "My Books" page.

Thanks, I just looked up each book (on Audible.com or Amazon) to see if I had read it or needed to put in on the "want to read list ". After I got that done, I noted that all my audio books from Audible.com were imported as hardcover. I'm not going to try & update that info, Too time consuming to do that-95% of my books are audio. I hope in future we'll be able to sort by "Read" or "Want to Read".

Hi Barb, sorry to hear the import didn't work as you expected. We'd love to improve how imports work as we move forward and I've passed your feedback on to our developers to assist in that process.

I appreciate what Amazon has done. They did a great job of pulling all books together (print, ebooks, audio, etc) and putting this option in Goodreads. It certainly is a lot better than tracking all books manually in Excel which is what I was doing. I'm sure it will continue to improve over time.

Hey Christopher - Julie's right about this one. If the book record doesn't exist on Goodreads yet, then it won't appear. I'd be happy to add any Kindle editions for you (just comment with the ASIN), or you can post in the Librarians Group:
