Thought I replied to the wrong one at first, but the YA will most likely be added later on as not all books that are labelled as YA are actually YA which I've found a lot over the past few years.

nina lacour is a YA author and she wrote yerba buena

That's because we've got fuck all for rep at this point; there aren't a lot of books with ace rep, and those that exist tend to end up being Ace 101 "wow I didn't know this was a thing!" story lines. Goodreads also only pulls very popular books for these lists; the only one that might qualify would be "Loveless," which. Ugh.
I'd recommend "Fire Becomes Her" by Rosiee Thor, "Common Bonds" (an aro-spec anthology edited by Claudie Arseneault), and maybe "I Want to be a Wall" by Honami Shirono (manga series).

Nightcrawling is tooo good but very hard to read through because of the subject matter.

This one seems to be mostly adult, with the exception of All Boys Aren't Blue--however, I'd be shocked if they don't do a YA version of the list soon!
In the meantime, as far as middle grade goes, here's some:
- Ellen Outside the Lines by AJ Sass
- In the Role of Brie Hutchins....by Nicole Melleby
- How to Become a Planet by Nicole Melleby
- Just Shy of Ordinary by AJ Sass
- Camp QUILTBAG by Nicole Melleby and AJ Sass
- Almost Flying by Jake Maia Arlow
- The Year My Life Went Down the Toilet by Jake Maia Arlow
- King and the Dragonflies by Kacen Callender
- Hurricane Child by Kacen Callender
- Moonflower by Kacen Callender
- Winnie Nash Is Not Your Sunshine by Nicole Melleby
- Ana on the Edge by AJ Sass
- Hurricane Season by Nicole Melleby
- This Is Our Rainbow by various authors
- Ivy Aberdeen's Letter to the World by Ashley Herring Blake
- Melissa by Alex Gino
- Different Kinds of Fruit by Kyle Lukoff

yeah, when people think of lgbtqqia+ they don't usually think of asexual. though the book dear wendy is about two aroace girls, maybe you'd like that book?

Loveless…shivers ew no. And yeah i know the rep is minuscule and what we do have(that doesn’t suck) isn’t popular enough to be on trendy book lists. Common Bonds is on my tbr. And as for that Rosie Thor book I don’t read YA anymore. I prefer my ace rep to be adults lol
and those that exist tend to end up being Ace 101 "wow I didn't know this was a thing!" story lines.
If i never see another Ace 101 storyline again i would die happy. It’s so stifling and creatively bankrupt. Why are ace (& trans people to an extent) still stuck at 101 bullcrap

yeah, w..."
Sadly I don’t care much for YA anymore. But i am glad that there’s some quality ace rep for kids/teens out nowadays. Back in my day it was rough
And i do have & know of asexual books but i was more expressing frustration that there wasn’t any ace rep on this list. It’s honestly annoying when i see things like “LGBTQ+/LGBTQIA” yet the A/+ is missing. Just idk stop the fake woke pretend inclusivity and just keep it as LGB…maybe T sometimes if you’re(general you) are not going to acknowledge anything else

while I get your point and largely agree with it, (and think we deserve a lot more) there are quite a lot of books with ace/aro-spec representation published at this point (there are several data bases tracking this representation in books) and it sounds a bit dismissive to them and their authors to imply there is not. I think the problem is more so a lack of popularity. Either way, I also liked the books you recommended and would personally recommend The Tiger and the Cage: A Memoir of a Body in Crisis, Convenience Store Woman, The Stones Stay Silent, The Charm Offensive, Being Ace: An Anthology of Queer, Trans, Femme, and Disabled Stories of Asexual Love and Connection or anything by Claire Kann (and many more haha).

There are no graphic novels here either, but I'd add in the following:
Lost Time by Tas Mukanik
The Dog Knight by Jeremy Whitley
The Greatest Thing by Sarah Winifred Searle
Witchlight and Coming Back by Jessi Zabarsky
Buzzing by Samuel Sattin
The Girl from the Sea by Molly Knox Ostertag
Brooms by Jasmine Wallis

This one seems to be mostly adult, with the exception o..."
I'd also add The House on Sunrise Lagoon series by Nicolle Melleby, too.

Sadly, good a-spec and aro-spec rep in books is harder to find. One YA book with good a/ro-spec is Aces Wild: A Heist by Amanda DeWitt, which centers around a cast of teens on both the aromantic and asexual spectrums. Unfortunately, this books has problems in other areas imo, but it is better than nothing.

Thank you for the recommendations! I sent you a friend request in hopes of gleaning more from you catalog one day <3

For a queer YA book, try So Let Them Burn by Jamilah Cole.

There's only 12 months in a year so things have to share months lol

My apologies I didn’t mean to imply that there aren’t asexual authors doing the work or quality ace books(i have an entire goodreads shelf dedicated to ace books). I should’ve been more careful with my wording.

Seriously i feel they didn’t even try with this list at all. No effort whatsoever. They just slammed a bunch of random books together no genre specifications beyond fiction & non fiction. How can there be only 3 fantasy/sci-fi books? you’d think after all the strives queer people have made in SFF there’d be something here. Or are queer people only allowed to exist in dreary contemporary dramas lol
Also no age categories? I’ll be the first to admit my disdain for YA overtaking everything especially when it’s mixed with adult with no separation….but queer kids exist. One would think after the global attacks on queer kids(trans children especially) that there would be a Kidlit/MG/YA section of the list to show solidarity with queer youth but nope!
And I’ve already made by disdain for the ace erasure known lol
This is a genuinely bad move on their part.

I’ve not gotten your request yet

This list is so incomprehensive it's disappointing.

I LOVED "My Government Means to Kill Me" and "Memorial."
I can't wait to read "Blessings."

Who'd Have Thought by G. Benson. Loved this book!

THIS. Not one single wildly popular independently authored sapphic book. Apart from a sparse few gems on the list, I feel like it's just more of the same overhyped books.

Yep. Where's the SFF, YA and middle grade? Why is The House in the Cerulean Sea on there? I understand why it's there because it's queer and popular, but Goodreads can put other books in, too.

Try The Last One to Fall by Gabrielle Lepore.

I've heard good things about Lavender House by Lev A.C. Rosen but I haven't read it yet

No problem! I highly recommend Melleby and Sass's books; I think they're some of the best middle grade authors writing right now. Melleby's House on the Sunrise Lagoon series is a perfect summer read--each book focuses on a different member of a blended family with two moms and it has a similar vibe to The Penderwicks, and it's just perfect summer fun and so atmospheric due to the setting.
