54 Memoirs That Readers Are Raving About

Posted by Lillian Boyd on July 23, 2021

Let's face it: Being cooped up inside during the pandemic has left a lot of us searching for a sense of connection with one another. Memoirs are a beautiful way to experience the world through the eyes of people with fantastically different points of view.

Below are 54 memoirs that are resonating with Goodreads readers in a huge way so far this year, running the gamut from an unjustly imprisoned man's quest for peace to a woman's discovery of her unlikely lineage to a superstar actress piecing her life back together.

We curated this list based on reader anticipation and buzz, which we measure by how many times a book has been added to Want to Read shelves. We also measured each book's average rating (nothing below a 3.5 average made the cut).

Ann (Inky Labyrinth) A lot of great books listed here! I have to say I never thought I'd enjoy a memoir by Seth Rogen but I've never in my life laughed harder than I did while reading Yearbook.

Karen Surrender, by Marylee MacDonald
A remarkably candid account of an adoptee's quest to know herself and her origins as she seeks to find the son she relinquished in her teen years. Real and poignant.
