Russell Hall Rereading the Amelia Peabody Series from before and into this week. I absolutely love the characters which Ms. Peterson writes and her partner in crime, the very talented reader, Barbara Rosenblat. It covers so much more than just Egyptology, and Peabody can throw the shade. If you enjoy great characters and smart women who speak their minds, even when those they are speaking to are incapable of comprehension, this is a series for you.
Happy reading everyone.

message 168: by Fritz (new)

Fritz Fashing I still have a few Nero Wolfe novels to read so I'll likely go with Rex Stout. Or maybe Dame Agatha, she's always worth the time. Nothing new about either but if you haven't been to these authors you are in for a real treat.

Fritz Fashing Emilia wrote: "Later (by Stephen King) and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (by Agatha Christie)"

I'll second "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd". Great story and the reveal floored me, but they usually do. The only mystery I've ever read that compared to it for sheer fun is "The Doorbell Rang", by Rex Stout. Both are excellent.

message 170: by Amanda (last edited Apr 08, 2021 07:29AM) (new)

Amanda Bhear I'm pretty sure I saw Steven King in there. I think I'll stick to the more fantasy genre. I have a very, very good imagination, that's why I like to read. Unfortunately, it doesn't shut off when I sleep, so I don't do too creepy or scary. I'd have nightmares for the rest of my life. But to each their own. Happy reading everybody.
