Goodreads Members Suggest: Favorite Very Quick Reads

Did you set an extremely ambitious Reading Challenge goal back in January? And has this, uh, unprecedented year gotten completely in the way of meeting your goal?
Never fear; we're here for you! We asked our followers on Twitter and Facebook to suggest their favorite short (and very short) books that you can read during the final weeks of this year's Challenge. Cheating? Nah. Think of it as a way to get to even more great, reader-approved books.
With 40 selections spanning a variety of genres, we think this list will help you get over that final hump. And who knows, maybe you'll find your next favorite read among them!
How are you doing on your Reading Challenge? Do you have any short books to recommend to help out your fellow readers?

Oh no, more books to add to my TBR! :)
flag
Carry by Toni Jensen A Memoir of Survival on Stolen Land is new, quick but powerful and the perfect book to read as a reminder of colonization as we celebrate Thanksgiving.
Earthlings by Sayaka Murata and Strange Weather in Tokyo + People from My Neighbourhood by Hiromi Kawakami. This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay is another good one.
Bouquet of White Roses by Lucy Costigan is a book that can be read in a day ! Being autobiographical, This is a book that takes the reader through stages purposely keeping you interested right till the end. You wont want to put it down.It will definitely help to achieve your challenge target!
If you're looking for a quick enough fantasy read. I just released my new book, Torpor, on Amazon. I would really appreciate any support. Thanks :) x
Phoebe wrote: "Animal Farm by George Orwell is a fantastic classic—as well as a short read."I have only read it once, decades ago. It's on my to re-read list!
This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay. Diary of a doctor in England. Informative and hilarious. Very quick read.
Russell Hoban's "The Medusa Frequency" is a terrific short book, especially if you're interested in writing.
And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman is my recommendation for this category
Brian wrote: "All of the Penric books by Lois McMaster Bujold!!"I read them during lockdown this year and loved them! They were the perfect distraction, just long enough to get into the story properly but short enough for my wandering attention span to cope with. The whole concept of Penric and Desdemona is brilliant.
A couple classics: Not Without Laughter - Langston Hughes, In a Lonely Place - Dorothy B. Hughes, Train Dreams - Denis Johnson, The Awakening - Kate ChopinA couple recent books: A Children's Bible - Lydia Millet, Wylding Hall - Elizabeth Hand, Optic Nerve - Maria Gainza, Lion Cross Point - Masatsugu Ono
A couple off the beaten path: But Beautiful: A Book About Jazz - Geoff Dyer, Gast - Carol Swain, The Ice Palace - Tarjei Vesaas, Daddy Was a Number Runner - Louise Meriwether
Lara by Bernardine Evaristo is well worth a read, but as a novel in verse it has far fewer words per page than most!
Liam wrote: "Earthlings by Sayaka Murata and Strange Weather in Tokyo + People from My Neighbourhood by Hiromi Kawakami. This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay is another good one."The two by Kawakami have been on my TBR forever! I really need to make the time and read them.
