Hmm. Maybe Flanders Point by Jacquie Gordon, and Consent by Nancy Ohlin. Or Big Fat Manifesto & Trigger by Susan Vaught. Or The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed, and Boy Toy by Barry Lyga.
I am currently starting my re-read of the 'Throne of Glass' series in preparation for 'Kingdom of Ash' later this year, starting all the way back from 'The Assassins Blade'.

Another good author for YA is Neal Shu..."
I agree on those.
JadeBrieanne wrote: "I'm currently reading RF Kuang's The Poppy War and CHECK THAT BOOK OUT! I LOVE IT!"It's not YA but I have heard great things about it.
Amy wrote: "I'm reading Tempests and Slaughter then going back and reading the entire Tortall set all over again because that's where my brain's at."Tempests and Slaughter is brilliant.

Jennifer (Jen/The Tolkien Gal) wrote: "Why celebrate YA when it's all that's on Goodreads most of the time?"Agree - nothing against YA in small doses but does it really need a spotlight week when it's already almost impossible to avoid?
GR, perhaps after this we could have a week encouraging users to try books aimed at grown-ups for a change? 😋
I just finished the Six Of Crows series and really enjoyed it... I was planning on reading non-fiction next, but seeing as it's YA week... ;)
I'm reading the ninth book in the Ghost Bird series by C.L. Stone and I'm listening on audible Renegades by Marissa Meyer!
Currently working on book 3 of the House of Night series, Chosen. Every week is YA week for me :) doubt I'll ever grow out of it!
Nadia wrote: "I'm re-reading The Raven Cycle for the second time this year, and recommend everyone to do the same."One of my all time favs! I can't even remember how many times I've read it. I was just reading fanfic of it last night!
Yousra wrote: "almost done with The Hate U Give, The Giver is next. probably Turtles all the Way Down too."Such good book choices :)
Alejandra wrote: "I love YA, and because of that this week I will be reading "Cinder" and "The Darkest Minds"."The Darkest Minds is such a good read :)
John wrote: "I'm reading Ready Player One. It's incredible! I thought the movie was pretty average, than I read the book and am blown away by it! The world is very realized and is, so far, living up to the hype..."The book is so so good :) loved it!

So true, Cendaquenta. I'm so disillusioned by YA and I'm 20. I'm literally in the target audience and I can't anymore.

I can see what you mean and I am no means in the target audience, they need to do a spotlight on some hidden gems that people should check out

Two books that will be published this fall:
Sadie and My Whole Truth.
I'm going to re-read The Giver. I read this in 6th grade as required reading 21 years ago, but remember nothing about it. I think it's technically a middle grade children's book.... I recently read Looking for Alaska a few weeks ago, my favorite John Green book (but I haven't read Turtles All the Way Down yet).
If Ya is not your thing, why do people bother commenting and complaining? Just move on. It really is that simple. You take away from the enjoyment of others who do like the genre.
Hannah wrote: "I’ll be finishing The Bane Chronicles and then reading More Happy Than Not, which I have been looking forward to reading since I bought it."Give Dear Martin a read (YA), a good follow up to The Hate U Give.
Yas wrote: "YA is where unimaginative lazy writing come to thrive."You're thinking of the YA dark ages, back when Twilight was uber-popular and every YA book was tween-porn paranormal romance. Good YA exists. You just gotta know where to look.
You liked The Book Thief, which is YA, and you liked Harry Potter, which is also YA (at least in the later books), so you already have a pretty good idea of where to look for good YA anyway.
I mean, GR does a horror/thriller week around Halloween. I am not a fan of those usually but I'm not going to complain about it being the top of be feed.Y'all need to stop being so salty. YA is a genre. It has great, good, bad, and terrible like all genres. You can't just lump them all as juvenile trash.
I just finished Cooking with Caroline and, if I can handle crying some more, will re-read I'll Give You the Sun.
I am reading the 'Legend' Trilogy by Marie Lu for the second time, after reading it first almost 7 years ago!
Just finished Children of Blood and Bone--amazing. I'll have to see how the other books in the best so far category stack up!
Yas wrote: "YA is where unimaginative lazy writing come to thrive."Unpopular opinion, but, uh, yeah. Don't know why we need to celebrate "YA Week" on here when you can throw a stone IRL and hit some 20something whose "life was changed" by, I dunno, Percy Jackson, or some shit. I'm on Goodreads to talk to people who enjoy reading books beyond Harry Potter & The Hunger Games Trilogy.
Re-read On The Jellicoe Road in honor of YA week and noticed a weird message from Goodreads when I tried to update: "You have reached the maximum amount of reading sessions" LOL U MEAN I HAVE READ THIS BOOK TOO MUCH? NOT A CHANCE
