A New Story Begins: Welcome to the World, Hannah!

A brief break from the regularly scheduled rambling of my blog to announce the joyous arrival of Hannah Grace Gibson!

description

Our beautiful daughter joined us at 10:39 PM on June 22 and weighed in at a svelte 6 lbs, 7 ounces (a whopping 6 ounces bigger than her big brother Henry, who can't wait to meet her...or maybe ask if we can send her back when he realizes that she's here to stay). Baby Hannah and Mommy Jess are doing great!

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ Congratulations!!! I'm envious of your wife--I never took any good photos immediately after childbirth. She looks great!

Mir Congratulations, Sean and Jess!

Hah! My sister looked better immediately after delivering than I look when I've primped.

message 8: by Sean (new)

Sean Gibson Thanks, everyone! We really appreciate it!

@ Courtney -- she's pretty small, but maybe I just have enormous fingers. ;)

@ Tadiana and Miriam -- yes, my wife does all right for herself even after labor! :)

I figured it was the best way to send her down the path to dorkdom.

message 13: by Anne (new)

Anne The name is half the battle, Sean. LOL! At least you didn't name her Zelda...

Sean Gibson Anne wrote: "The name is half the battle, Sean. LOL! At least you didn't name her Zelda..."

Well, after having both Egon and Sherlock shot down as names for my son, I figured I didn't have a chance of getting anything like Shadowcat or Ms. Marvel through this time around...

message 15: by Anne (new)

Anne Well played, Mrs. Sean! I had to veto several dumbass names, as well.

message 16: by Sean (new)

Sean Gibson I just think that true creative genius is so rarely appreciated in its own time. That's my excuse for many things in life, including why my name suggestions were summarily dismissed and why McDonald's hamburgers continue to outsell The Camelot Shadow: A Novel by a razor-thin margin.

message 17: by Anne (new)

Anne LMAO! Sorry, but those death-burgers are delicious. Well, for as long as they remain in your system, anyway.

message 18: by Sean (new)

Sean Gibson Anne wrote: "LMAO! Sorry, but those death-burgers are delicious. Well, for as long as they remain in your system, anyway."

I think you're confusing "delicious" with "not dissimilar from the experience of biting into a rancid hockey puck filled with the wriggling guts of a Tauntaun" again, Anne.

message 19: by Erica (new)

Erica I'm a virtual grandma!
And you made a gnome? Judging by her hat in the first picture, she's a gnome. I didn't know that was even possible! Just when I thought you couldn't be a more awesome daughter, you bring forth adorable little gnomes. This is why you're my favorite child.

In seriousness: Congratulations on your new, big family! Hello, Hannah!

But the important thing to remember is that he named her after me...grandma.

Delicious...disgusting...diarrhea...it's all the same thing.

Erica Anne wrote: "But the important thing to remember is that he named her after me...grandma. "

The minute I saw her name, I was all, "Oh, Anne is gonna be ALL over this, like crazy on glue...Kragle."

message 23: by Anne (new)

Anne Hee-hee! You know me so well! Sure this thread should be about Sean & the baby, but I'm slowly managing to twist it toward myself!

message 24: by Sean (new)

Sean Gibson A not uncommon fate for all GR threads.

(And thanks, Ma...I do try to be a dutiful, gnome-producing daughter.)

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ That's why I follow Anne around from thread to thread. You never know what kind of crazy is going to happen, but you know it'll be good!

message 26: by Anna Kay (new)

Anna Kay Congratulations Sean, she's so cute! :D

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* She's just so sweet (for now) .... tiny little button!!

*waves at baby Hannah*

But he named her after me. Very important. Don't forget it in your haste to ogle to adorable baby.

message 33: by Anne (new)

Anne Wait! You guys are FB friends? Why the hell haven't you friended me, Sean!

Sean Gibson Karly *The Vampire Ninja & Luminescent Monster* wrote: "The friend button goes both ways, lady :P"

YEAH! Take that, ANNE.

And fingers crossed that the nose continues to be Jess's, Karlington...after all, mine was nice and small for years. And then it exploded all over my face.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* LMFAO @ 'exploded all over my face'.... I just had a visual of a nose actually exploding.

I will cross my fingers for baby Hannah too..... because as sophisticated as that rather large proboscis is on your mug... I don't wish it on your wee she-spawn

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ Anne wrote: "But he named her after me. Very important. Don't forget it in your haste to ogle to adorab..."

Anne, is "Hannah" synonymous with "Anne" somewhere in your brain? :p

message 38: by Anne (new)

Anne I didn't even know you had a FB page, Sean. Because...
Well, I just didn't think!
Dammit! I'm going there now...prepare to accept my request.

message 39: by Mir (new)

Mir Sean wrote: "mine was nice and small for years. And then it exploded all over my face."

That's how it happened for my dad. Us kids used to live in fear of having the giant nose happen to us.

It's my last name! Obviously, this is why he named his little girl Hannah. OBVIOUSLY!

Bwhahahahaha!

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ We have schnoz issues running on both sides of our family: I have the Walton nose, which is a little oversized but not terrible (my mom used to suggest that I size it down with a nose job, but I was never interested), and my husband's family has this really big beak of a nose that runs in the family. My husband missed it but his dad and sister have it in a major way. I have lived in fear that our kids would get one of the Noses, but so far it looks like they've escaped the family nose curse. *knocks on wood*

message 43: by Sean (new)

Sean Gibson @Karly -- my nose has literally exploded all over my face twice; I recommend against both running into walls trying to save stray basketballs and getting run into in the midst of a volleyball game. When one's nose is this big to start, it tends to assume epic, mythical proportions when broken...

@Anne -- Request accepted, but ONLY BECAUSE I AM A BENEVOLENT OVERLORD. Also, I may just have to call you by your last name from now on. Love me some palindromes.

@Tadiana -- How old are your kids? I feel like mine didn't really come into its own until the early teen years...

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* Hahaha, my family has no snoz issues. However, my dad likes to harass me that I got his knobby & beefy legs rather than my mom's delicate stems, all.the.time.

Tadiana ✩Night Owl☽ Sean wrote: "@Tadiana -- How old are your kids? I feel like mine didn't really come into its own until the early teen years..."

21, 19, 17 and 13. The three older ones should be safe at this point. The 13 year old has a nice nose now but we'll have to see what puberty does to him. :D

There will be a character in my next book with "knobby and beefy" legs...hahaha! Brilliant.

message 47: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie aww congratulations to you both!! Hannah is adorable <3

my sister got my dad's big hawk-looking Italian nose, but it works for her. Mom and I have the slim German nose :)

message 48: by Erica (new)

Erica I am a fan of big noses. I've always been. On anyone. There's just something about a prominent nose that I find awfully attractive.
I mean, of course, there are cases in which that is not true, but, overall, yes, I think big noses are awesome.

Karlyflower *The Vampire Ninja, Luminescent Monster & Wendigo Nerd Goddess of Canada (according to The Hulk)* ^^ Erica has a big nose fetish, Seanism!!!!! I found one!!

And *snickers*, I will look forward to seeing my legs in your next book.

Ha! This whole mother/daughter dynamic just got way more awkward, Erica, now that we know about your nose fetish.

Are you available to cover model, Karly? :)
