The truth, the whole truth ...

Hello friends and readers and passers by,
As promised long ago, would share with you the ups and downs of being a self-published author, so, it is with some trepidation as to how this will go down, but I received my quarterly royalties this week that showed after months of publicity, talking to people, advertising my re-launch of 'Echoes' I sold ................. (drum roll).......
One book.
Yes, that's right. One. I now have a cheque for just over $2 which if I changed it to £ would be a few pence.
So, I speak to authors who have loads of reviews for their books. I hear about authors who complain that their sales have gone down to 35 per day!!! And I sit here with a book that has won awards, had a producer rave over it and yet nobody wants to read it - why? What am I doing wrong?
Am I too needy? Too desperate? Believe me when I say I am not. I am a nice woman who just wants to write books for people to enjoy, but how do I do that?
So, there it is readers - the reality of self-publishing and being taken on by a publisher who is at present indisposed through no fault of her own.
Is the universe telling me to give up? Stop hoping? Would love to hear your thoughts ...

Sarah Stuart I book sale is better than no book sales. If you enjoy writing the way I do you can't stop: it's as essential to life as breathing

P.J. Roscoe I do enjoy writing Sarah, it's like asking me to stop breathing! I guess I have to change my perspective and you're right a book sale is wonderful. I obviously had my head in the clouds when taken on by a publisher - expected more than what I can do on my own????
