everything old is made new again

Ha! Just ran across, during a random browse, a movie that delighted me back when it first came out. I never thought to see it available again. Oh me of little faith.

Spaghetti Western meets Samurai Flick, to the benefit of both.

(The Amazon reviews alas suggest that this DVD version is not of good picture and sound quality, which is a shame if so.)

Aaron Jensen Have you seen Six-String Samurai? You might like it, too. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/6305297...

Lois Bujold No, I don't know that one. I see the Amazon reviews are... mixed. :-)

Sounds a bit like Kung Fu Hustle in terms of satire, but that one could not be accused of having low production values. Kung Fu Hustle is recommended for its high cognitive-torsion levels, though the viewer needs at least some acquaintance with Kung Fu movies to get the in-jokes, which appear to be myriad.

Peter For what it is worth Lois I was thinking that practically everybody else in his age group has been a hostage... Ivan, Gregor, Ekaterine - except Miles
How would he feel being on the inside and having to wait for the cavalry....
He and Ekaterine going for a surprise visit to Ivan & Tej at some distant Diplo post and doing so incognito so Ivan doesn't realise they are coming from looking at the incoming passenger list.....
and of course they would have to be rescued by a certain Admiral so she and Ekaterine could compare notes.........

just rambling in the hope I stir something with you :-)

Actually, the situation in Mirror Dance qualifies as a hostage situation, even though Miles doesn't know who he is for much of the time.

Also in Brothers in arms, he is a hostage.
