Big Scary
Barsuk Records is excited to introduce Australia's Big Scary to North American audiences, starting with a digital EP on November 12th in anticipation of a full-length album  Not Art  due January 28, 2014. The  Twin Rivers EP  features two tracks off Not Art, a non-album collaboration with noted artistJonti, plus remixes by  Dan the Automator The Antlers , and Barsuk's own  Menomena .
BrooklynVegan  premiered the The Antlers' remix of "Twin Rivers," and noted the apt pairing, highlighting both bands' "knack for delicate, layered dream pop." In their premiere of Menomena's remix of "Luck Now,"  IndieShuffle  praised the retooling, saying "Sometimes remixes improve on a melody. Other times they fortify a bassline or amplify percussion. Menomena's take on "Luck Now" does all of those things and so much more." In conjunction with today's announcement, the Dan the Automator remix of "Twin Rivers" is now available HERE, and the whole EP via Spotify starting on Tuesday, November 5, one week prior to its wide digital release.
The Melbourne-based duo (featuring Tom Iansek and Jo Syme) has become a household name in Australian indie-pop circles and has a growing cult following overseas. Barsuk Records is thrilled to be the U.S. home for the band's forthcoming album Not Art, a slow-burning stunner produced and engineered by Iansek and mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Amy Winehouse, The Kills, Arcade Fire, Adele) that distills influences of indie rock song structure, pop and hip-hop production, and experimental ambient music.
