Endings grew easier after the first book, yes. Middles remain the hardest part for me.
I do my endings by gut-feel, mainly. Reader response varies among those feeling I do too little, just enough, or too much, which is a typical array of reader response, sigh. Since I have finished almost everything I ever started since my first novel, I do have just about the same amount of practice at endings as I have at beginnings, fwiw.
bests, Lois.
I was interested in your comment about writing past the end of a book (I think you were talking about Shards of Honor) because I enjoy the way you end your books. It seems you always give me just enough to be willing to close the book. Have you had to do that with any of the other books or does finding the end come more easily with experience?
