LMB's LoneStarCon 3 schedule

WorldCon (and the end of this too-short summer) is coming right up...

http://www.lonestarcon3.org/

My panels and appearances:

Where there's a Will there's a Way: Reproductive Technology, Medical Ethics and the Law

Friday 11:00 - 12:00

How can you arrange for your un-conceived child to inherit your possessions? What are the medical, ethical and legal implications of modern reproductive practices such as surrogate parenting, IVF after the male spouse is dead, and the use of sperm banks?

Tore Hoie (M), Lois McMaster Bujold, W. A. (Bill) Thomasson, Sam Scheiner.

If Corporations Are People...

Friday 17:00 - 18:00

What makes for a successful corporatocracy? Can companies be successful and be humane as well? Or will the term become meaningless in such a context? Will there ever be a corporate death penalty? Can a society or a civilization turn into one, or does it have to begin that way?

Will Frank (M), Mark Oshiro, Melinda M. Snodgrass, Paul Herman, Lois McMaster Bujold

Bujold's Vorkosigan Universe

Saturday 11:00 - 12:00

Steve Jackson (M), Lillian Stewart Carl, John O'Halloran, Trina Marie Phillips
[I am not actually on this panel; I'm not sure if hanging out in the audience would benefit or impede it.]

An Hour with Lois McMaster Bujold

Saturday 14:00 - 15:00

Discussion, plus audience Q&A.

Lillian Stewart Carl, Lois McMaster Bujold

Writing Combat

Saturday 17:00 - 18:00

How do you integrate combat into your writing? How do you make it believable? At what point do you reach a state of Too Much Information? How do different audiences affect your style? A look at writing fight scenes, from personal fisticuffs to fleet engagements and everything in between.

Elizabeth Moon (M), Elizabeth Bear, Martha Wells, Jean Johnson, Lois McMaster Bujold

Autographing: Lois McMaster Bujold, Vylar Kaftan, Nancy Kress, Leigh Perry

Sunday 11:00 - 12:00

Kaffeeklatsch: Lois McMaster Bujold

Sunday 15:00 - 16:00

(And then the Hugos Sunday night. Whew!)

Nope, not this time. I have nothing new in the pipeline to offer/promote.

Sorry, L.

Ita "They" said you were working on a novella and had gotten stuck. But surely you can read a beginning snippet? Please.

I thought it would be much too cruel to read from something not likely to be finished. (Also, my programming schedule is packed; not visible on it are a couple of business meetings/meals, at least one interview, and whatever else people will wedge in before we're done.) And, y'know, it might be interesting to attend a convention and see some panels I'm not actually on... Not to mention have time to talk with a few old friends. Or new ones.

Ta, L. Unrepentant. Also, not GoH this time.

Suelibevg Sounds like it will be fun, I'm sorry I'll miss it. Enjoy!

Sue Lois, is their any chance that you will write any more Sharing Knife books? It just seemed to me, that their was still a lot of room to evolve and carry on the story. I'd like to know where things went from where you left off. Thanks.

Nothing is planned, and nothing is ruled out.

Unhelpful, I know, but at least accurate.

Ita Wasn't trying to make you feel guilty. Just madly *hoping* :-).

Glad you're going to WorldCon. Hope you have a great, relaxing time. And yes, looking at your schedule it looks like they've got you maybe a bit over-booked. Hope to catch many of your panels.

And I hope you're enjoying your retirement!!

message 9: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth McCoy Ask SJ... But my 2000 miles away bet is that he'd be fine with you showing up for the GURPS Vorkosigan panel. (You could lurk in the back.)

I hope you have a great time!

Michaeline Duskova I wish I were going, too! Especially to that "if corporations are people" panel . . . reminds me so much of Cryoburn. "If corporations are dead people." would be a whole new twist on the matter.
