Daniel heard a beep in the darkness. And then another. More sounds started to drift toward him but he wasn’t able to identify them. He tried to open his eyes, but the light around him was just too bright.
He moved his arms but they were heavy. His left arm moved just a little, but his right arm couldn’t move. Something was holding it down. The creature in the forest?
“Daniel?” a voice asked out of the darkness.
He opened his eyes again and squinted against the light. He wasn’t in the forest anymore. He was in a room with fluorescent lights and a tile ceiling. A woman leaned over him. He tried to focus on her face.
