“Back in the tube,” Richard said, laughing softly. Neither of them enjoyed entering suspended animation, but it was necessary to survive space warps.
The engines use tachyons to create wormholes, considered a pocket universe by many, to move the ship through space faster than the speed of light, but the process destroys the human mind.
To avoid that, the crew are placed in suspended animation and the ship wakes them when they exit.
