Many, like Robert and Richard, don’t like placing their lives in the hands of the ship’s systems. Artificial intelligence was meant to be a bridge between humanity and machine, but whether a body-less voice, an android, or hologram there remained distrust.

Especially given how some AI seemed to become self aware and want freedom; some killing their crews.

But those instances were few and far between.

For Richard, his greatest fear were his dreams. He rarely talked about it, but Robert knew they were nightmares caused by the process.

“Mind if we pilot it for a while, computer?” Richard asked.
