The Lazy Susan shuddered as the ship left the planet’s gravity well and the thrusters fully took over. The vibration was barely noticeable and the two pilots were so used to it they didn’t notice.

Richard let out a breath and rested his head against the seat’s headrest.

Robert shared his friend’s relief. For reasons he didn’t fully understand, it felt like they got away with one. Like the planet was a giant cookie jar and they got away without having their hand smacked.

It didn’t make sense, but given how things were going in the universe, he’d take it.
