I have it on a CD. I'd actually like to get it digitized and able to be posted somewhere. Someday...

I've listened to all of the podcasts and enjoyed them a lot. I'll be listening to this one tomorrow.

As someone from Washington, PA who was really involved in agriculture and livestock/horses and the like, I would LOVE to hear about life there at that time!
That would be really cool to hear!
I was relistening to the interview, and realized there was another important source for the plot of Captain Vorpatril's Alliance that I didn't mention: the excellent and classic nonfiction Why Buildings Fall Down: How Structures Fail by Levi and Salvadori. Can't put links in the comments, but I see it's still for sale on Amazon, at least. Alas, no Kindle edition yet, but a reasonably priced paperback seems to still be available. Highly recommended.More recent, so not a part of the direct inspiration but still very recommendable, is the Great Course by Stephen Ressler Epic Engineering Failures and the Lessons They Teach, which covers some of the same ground plus newer items. Great Courses online, which rebranded itself as Wondrium, has now gone back to Great Courses Plus, which I expect is much more findable.
