In Search Of The Goddess

Perhaps it is only fitting

That the first piece that I create for my ‘Primythical‘ series would be of the goddess Athena, who in addition to being the goddess of wisdom, also has handicrafts in her portfolio.

What better patron and starting point of this collection could there be?

The first born of Zeus, who emerged from Zeus’ forehead now, thousands of years later, emerges from my studio as the first born of this collection.

‘Athena – Wisdom’From the flames of raku, a goddess emerges: In Greek Mythology,

A little owl represents or accompanies Athena and has become known as a symbol of knowledge and wisdom in the western world, attesting to the long standing power of the Olympians. The whispers of Athena’s legacy are everywhere.

The symbology of the owl has often inspired my own personal journey. The ability to see through the darkness of life and find knowledge and grow has so inspired me that I have also made a collection of raku owls.

You can learn more about the making of this piece and the process behind it here.

Athena sometimes used her wisdom to trick other Olympians, and in this case with beautiful results.

While making this piece

Athena and her owl have been instilling more creative sparks in my mind and have whispered other ideas to me, so I will be revisiting this goddess as the collection ‘Primythical‘ grows.

What do you think of the raku pottery vase ‘Athena – Wisdom’?

Let us know in the comments below. Are you excited to see more of this collection and join me for this epic journey of mythological proportions?

The next piece in this collection will be ‘a-maze-ing’, so I hope you will keep following our progress.
