Mindfully observing your thoughts

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."

Hello AWMS subscriber :
This week's audio podcast is the fourth in our series called "Quarantine Meditations." In the first two, we learned to become deeply relaxed and boost our body's natural immune system.
Last week, we introduced a breath-watching exercise to expand awareness through mindful detachment. And this week, we develop our mindfulness practice by learning to observe our thought-streams without judgment.
Though few people ever consider it, there are clear differences between intentional thinking and the intrusive trains-of-thought that persist when we cease to think purposefully. Known as "task-unrelated thinking," these meandering streams of spontaneous ideas are usually negative and self-critical. More importantly, they are stressful and degrade awareness and understanding.
