I Kind Of Cleaned For This?

I kind of cleaned my house for nothing. A friend was coming into town for a conference and I cleaned my house over the weekend because he was going to stop by. Of course, the conference was cancelled out of an abundance of caution over the COVID-19 situation so now he’s not coming. I cleaned for nothing. Well, kind of. I didn’t really “clean” clean. I just cleaned up enough so I could still let him in the house while saying: “You’ll have to pardon us, we’ve been busy and it’s a little messy.” I cleaned enough to be able to at least let him enter the house when I said that, not a serious clean.
