My Absence From AWP Had Nothing To Do With COVID-19

I just wanted to assure everyone that my absence from AWP had nothing to do with COVID-19. So many people had cancelled because of virus concerns. I had never signed up to go. Instead, I just didn’t want to spend the money or the time.

I think the last one I went to was Tampa. Shannon went with and did all kinds of cool stuff while I was at the conference. I kept feeling like I would have rather just been out seeing Tampa instead.

This conference costs usually over a grand if you want a close hotel, and at least a couple hundred dollars or more for flights. When I get there and see a few people before wandering around the book fair for a while and then getting overwhelmed and isolating in my room, I just can’t see doing it so often. I think I’ve had enough for a while.
