This is a simple, soulful story that takes you back to the 80s. I had multiple flashbacks while reading ‘Wake-up! It’s my Birthday’. Cecile has so beautifully captured a world that existed decades ago. I too, remember a new dress was bought by my parents for me only during festivals and on birthdays and boy how I treasured these dresses. A birthday is an important and momentous occasion not to be understated. Surprisingly, Tory’s hysteria when she experienced her first kiss, brought back memories of mine too. Absolutely nostalgic
