I have been promoting a lot of young upcoming indie authors on Wattpad by tagging them into writing contests I enter in and find, adding their books on my reading lists, and reading, voting and commenting on their works that I find interest in.
Whether it's providing a listening ear, giving advice when they feel like this creating and writing thing is becoming too daunting of a task for them to carry on I am there for those that need me. I do it mostly in silence and I never ask for anything in return. I have always promoted indie authors and artists, especially the younger ones.
I have applied for the position of Wattpad Ambassador. I hope I get in because I love mentoring young creative minds. And quite a bit, they seem to come to me for advice or help when they need it. I never hesitate to help them.
I have been making covers on my own for the last few years. I have made them on Wattpad for my own books as of right now but have recently entered a contest to do them professionally, which is something I want to do. So we'll see how it goes. I have been doing banners and posters, too for the last three years.
On another note: I recently posted in previous blog posts that my multi-genre steampunk/sci-fi novella Traveling Salesman: Astronomgonist won Second Place in the Bookworm Awards 2018 for Science Fiction and six to seven weeks later I was nominated for Best Female Author in Fantasy 2018 in the Majestic Awards for Traveling Salesman: Astronomgonist and won.
A week and a half later, I have just won a third award for Traveling Salesman: Astronomgonist Second Place in the Creative Minds Awards for Science Fiction. Traveling Salesman: Astronomgonist. The last two months have been such a whirlwind. I have never won anything before.
But it took me so many years and so much hard work to get to this point for someone for anyone to notice my work enough to give it this much praise. I always tell those I've mentored I am not an overnight success.
Real success and prolonged success comes from years and years of consistency and very hard work. You can't quit. You have to keep going even when you don't want to. I have been doing this for nearly thirty years since I was thirteen years old.
Using my educational background (see bio) and life experiences in my work and my goals constantly striving. And this is the result. It wasn't easy.
And especially to make it on a platform as huge as Wattpad where works like mine would be easily overlooked because they are so different. It took me five years to get noticed on Wattpad.
And I had to leave four of those years to complete my goal of becoming a publisher and publishing my own works which I've done and continue to do.
Now I'm publishing other upcoming authors which begins the end of this year along with ghostwriting and editing ( I will elaborate further on this in a new blog post). and I'm going to continue do this because it's something I've always wanted to do among other creative endeavors. So stay tuned for more on that. In the meantime, check out my other posts here on my Goodreads blog.
