Sheila, agreed. Tamara was born before Gary's conversion., so she can't be Gary's lifemate. Gary's lifemate was born after his conversion (Dark Blood), and she's an infant (Dark Legacy).😁

There is something about Gary......May contain spoilers if you haven't already read Dark Song.
Is anyone else disappointed in Gary's belief that Ferro and Elisabeta should be killed?
It doesn't make any sense. All Carpathians those with and without a lifemate live to protect couples, women, and children of all species, but especially the Carpathians. I don't understand why Gary would go against that inherent need to protect all.
He is a genius in how own right and should realize that Michael and other ancients, including him, would search for a way to protect the couple and the knowledge of the piece the Malinovs are searching for.
I was worried that he would change too much when he was converted and we wouldn't recognize him anymore.
But, in all the books since then, he continuously strives to protect, heal, and find answers for the Carpathians. He is still respected and slowly being befriended by the ancients from the monastery. I was coming to accept him as a Carpathian and excited to see where his journey was going to take him.
I am disappointed at this sudden turnaround. Hopefully, in the next book or two, it will be explained in more detail and with a better resolution.
I am still rooting for Gary the nerd, scientist, and friend to Gregori and the Carpathians. Now newly converted and holding out till he finds his lifemate. Stay strong for her and us, Gary.
I definitely hope that Gary doesn’t go vampire. I loved the old Human Gary, and felt sorry for the new Carpathian Gary.

It doesn't..."
Gregori would have done the same exact thing. This isn't a Gary-specific issue. It's an issue for any second in command character. Gary has to think about the people as a whole and not about individual people.
There are people who have jobs that are difficult. Triage for instance. You have to determine who to save and who to let die so the majority of those affected get taken care of.
Gary hasn't changed. He isn't a "bad guy" or "turning vampire". He had a very difficult decision. I felt sorry for him. But since he has no emotions you don't really get to know that it's a horrible situation for him, you just see that the thought was there.
Thank you, Sheila. I’ve mainly been skimming through Dark Song, and I was very puzzled by it. Have a great evening
I have made it a point, before reading the newest book of Dark Series, to start from the beginning. Well, I finished Dark Crime and just couldn't wait, so I jumped ahead and read Dark Whisper. Now, I definitely need to go back and start after Dark Crime. I love this books. I read a comment that said when she started reading everything just fell away; I agree. I can see everything, well almost, it's like the best movie in the world is playing just for me and I have the best seat in the house. I do have questions; I think I'll write them out on the chat page. Thank you so much for the many hours of reading pleasure you have given me.
