There's Something About Gary
Some of this blog has spoilers in it and I’ve tried to identify for you which books the blog may have spoilers for. So you’ve been forewarned! Read at your own risk!
SPOILERS FOR DARK BLOOD/DARK PROMISES
Gary Jansen, the American scientist who we meet in Dark Magic, eventually becomes Gary Daratrazanoff when he is converted in Dark Blood. So, Gary has been with the series for a long time. And he’s been through a lot, earning the loyalty of the Carpathians, so he’s become a much-loved character with readers. We find out he is Human/Jaguar and we think his lifemate will be Gabrielle, but when the ritual binding words don’t work between them they know their feelings as humans has changed and as Carpathians they can only be friends.
Gary’s story has progressed so much and a lot of what’s happened to him has endeared him to readers and often surprised readers. The fact he was converted, that he’s now a Daratrazanoff, his human love interest was NOT his lifemate, he kept the memories of the Daratrazanoff line and is a great healer, he lost his ability to see in color all at once and with Dark Legacy we find out another surprise about Gary that may have readers discussing this character for a while.
SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR DARK LEGACY
So much has changed for the Carpathians. We find out in Dark Legacy that there’s more to lifemates than people may have realized, those some readers did catch it, and this new information may cause an epiphany for some readers/Gary supporters.
We also find that Tariq is Mikhail’s chosen leader in the United States, and as Tariq builds his own team and fights his own battles, he is in need of a Second in Command. And a great healer. Someone preferably from the Daratrazanoff line. Yes, you guessed it, Gary is going to be Tariq’s second just like Gregori is Mikhail’s.
Gary’s life has been turned upside down in just about every book in which he appears. But, if you think Dark Promises was surprising, just wait until Dark Legacy.

He was a sweet surprise in legacy. But can he wait for his mate to hrown to adult hood with so many anicents living in him... I hate to think how he will be for the next 18 years at the least. To bad em daughter isn't his. She is strong enough to help ease his suffering I think.

I thought for sure Genevieve was going to be his lifemate ! I hope siv and the triplets get there lifemate soon, either way im waiting for the next book its gonna be great like all the rest

Gary will always be one of my favorites. I wonder if Jubal & Paul...also Ginny...will become Carpathian, or if Jubal will become more Jaguar. I wish Luiz...and Jubal... could save the Jaguar People, especially the women, childen, and the...innocent males.
I was happy Gary had such a major part in Legacy, he sure has changed but that of course is expected. I was surprised that he knew his lifemate was born though I don't remember Gabreill telling him she was just born only she was in Paris? Hmmmm
We'll see if Gary find his lifemate in the US or Paris. Can hardly wait to know. for sure. Hope to learn more about the...good...mages.Still love Dark Magic.
I've adored Gary since we met him in Dark Magic. Gary the Geek, with the heart of gold, made mistakes, but atoned for them throughout the series. He's saved lives. I've enjoyed Gary's journey watching him grow in confidence, and physically changed into a warrior in both mind, and body, and fighting for a species right to live. I enjoyed Dragomir's view that Gary needs the brotherhood, because they understand that he feel no emotions, not anything. This will give him the balance he needs to survive until he's able to claim his lifemate, and after.
I remembered at the end of Dark Carousel, that Genevieve felt like she left something in Paris, and in Dark Legacy she was sad when she spoke of her family. I'm wondering if Vi has a baby daughter or baby sister that no one knows about, and maybe the infant is Gary's lifemate. :-) I can't help it, I have to play "Guess who's the lifemate."
I loved the introduction to your new carpathian "E". I really would love to see one of those old-school carpathian love matches since it has been a while since the last one. Thanks for another great read!

His soul was split in half, he turned Carpathian and she was born. Currently in Paris, doesn't mean she'll always be there. But, she may grow up there. Not sure yet! lol
I'm so excited for Gary. I have always loved him. Looking forward to seeing how he will be and how he gets his lifemate!!

I was hoping Darius would be the healer that was sent because of his knowledge of Carpathian children. But hopefully with Gary being the 2nd and healer it will give him a chance to earn his place in the eyes of some readers that are not so gung-ho for Gary. haha.
I enjoyed Legacy. And I'm beyond glad to see Gary!! I fell in love with him in Magic and he's had a spot in my heart since. I'm really really interested in the story behind his eyes! They sound beautiful. Watching Tariq get so frazzled with Gary handed him Mikhail's note had me laughing though. And the ancients from the monastery had me cracking up. Especially Sandu. Broke my heart seeing then treat Gary so nasty on the beginning, but the strong bond the ancients have is so special. I think Feehan has some amazing plans in store.... But can we have Gary's next anyway??!!!??!!
Wow...I am pleased to see there would be more for Gary in Dark Legacy. Yet to get my book to read it but looking forward to it. I have always wanted to see what happens to him, he is such a loyal and lovable character. And yes, more than lifemates is what I wanted for Carpathians. Glad to hear that too. So will the next book be for Gary?
I liked Gary in this book. You can see the Gary who was in Dark Blood but more. I want to say he reminded me of Lucian, but agan, more. I loved the exchange between him and Tariq about the Prince giving him a second. I am wondering what the Queen has up her sleeve with this. How it will play out. Tariq isnt a vessel therefore the Dubrinsky Daratrazonoff magic cant work....can it?
If im not mistaken isnt there a book where Gary finds his lifemate? I dont want to spoil anything for anyone but im sure i know!

I can't wait for Gary's HEA to come up as he meets his LM in the future. But I don't see that happening quite soon. I want to read more of the ancients and their LMs first because I feel that they deserve to have their stories told earlier. Or some of them. I do think that more LMs will be found before Gary's book comes out.
I've read every book in this series so many times, to many to count, Gary's character has gone through big changes and he gets stronger with every change. I've also liked him sense Dark Magic. Before every book comes out, I feel I need to reread the books all over, I read so fast some things I don't remember. And I really enjoy them so much. This year I read them all and it was great to refresh my memory of the whole store. I'm ready to per-order the next book.

Love Darius. Reading about him and Tempest, in Dark Fire was so fun, as Tempest often got the best of him...loved her courage.

I missed the part about Gary's lifemate still being a baby...poor Gary. Like Gregori had to wait for his lifemate, Savannah, grow up.

I agree. Gary will always be one of my favorite formerly human...now Carpathian...characters.
I think Gary's lifemate will be Emeline's daughter. There was a scene in dark legacy where it was hinted though. But im not that really sure just a gut feeling ;D
No, it says right in Dark Legacy that Gary's lifemate is already born and is a baby and is in Paris.
I hope the Dark Series NEVER Ends!! I love this series and feel it should go on forever. Also more celebrations should happen. Where huge groups of carpathions come together. I enjoy reading the parts when it does happen and with more children being born its exciting to see how they react together.
Greeting,I just became aware of the Carparthian World this year strictly by accident and I am hooked!!! As a known romantic amongst my family and friends, the not knowing is killing me. I need answers on Everyone!!! Gary must find his LM and do you plan to go deeper with Jubal and Jazmine and Ginny and Paul and Joseph(Byron's Nephew) and what about all the kids in Dark Legacy will more of them become Carparthians in time to save the Ancients...Hurry give us more!!! Lol

I am so addicted to Christine Feehan's Dark Series and her Leopard Series. She is my all time favortie arthur. I read both series over and over and when I finish a book and have to face reality which makes me sad wishing what was in the books was real and that I was a lifemate LoL!As far as the Dark Series goes, I am so excited for the future stories. I can't wait for the ancients from the monestary as well as the triplets to find their lifemates. Also to see Val & Liv's as well as Gary and his lifemates stories unfold. Then I wonder about the ancient woman Carpathian from the end of Legacy finding her lifemate which may hoepfully be one of our ancients from the monestary. We also got the rest of Tariq's 4 kids, Jubal, Josef as well as his bestfriend and little sister, and don't forget the little mage who helped save the ancient female in Legacy. Didn't she already think she would be a lifemate? I wonder to who? Lol. Also I'm sure that there are a few characters that I may have forgotten to mention.
I have so many thoughts and questions about the upcoming possible books that just waiting on them will be torture lol.
Christine Feehan you have such a wondeful talent that allows me to escape reality and go into this fantasy dream world (even though there are vampires and other monsters to worry about) and I truly thank you for giving us that gift. Please don't take to long in bringing us more of your stories. I can't wait.
I luv all ur books but I'm hoping that eventually all the genealogy will be put of so we can see all the kids names and who their parents are. Like Darius and Tempest they had twins a boy and a girl but we only had the boys name given to us not the daughters. Everyone keeps talking about all the kids and them growing up and finding lifemates but just remember Falcon and Sara had 3 little girls that could be lifemates to some of the men as well as her daughter that she had if she lives. I have read all of these books so many times that I will never tire of the series and I hope Christine keeps writing until all the carpathians find their lifemates and I also hope she keeps adding more and more carpathians to keep the story going forever.

I've only read her Dark Series and have been thinking about one of the other series so any suggestion would be appreciated. Nothing too stressful.

Ooh...has the child been introduced already in any of the past books recently published. I am really excited to have Gary's story soon though. But I do understand what you mean as well.

She hasn't been introduced as such yet, but we know she's in France somewhere. He knows this, Gabrielle, Teagan, and her grandmother gave him that much to hold on to. He knows he needs to bide his time.
