Love this series. Sure hope that Gary, and Luiz, find their lifemates soon.I'd love to know about the ...next...book in this great series, but I'm sure that it's...months...too early to know. Have a great day.

I've always believed that if a converted woman can have a lifmate destined for them then why not a converted male. I like the idea, if a lifemate isn't in the world she'll eventually be born. Love, and life finds a way. :-)Dragomir had mentioned that the psychic women killed by Vadim will be reborn. It reminds me a little of reincarnation. The lifemates will meet one day, if the male can hold on. Hopefully with the assistance of Teagan, Trixie, and Gabrielle, the Carpathian males will find their lifemates a little quicker. When the Malinovs find out about this gift these ladies share, I'm sure they'll be hunted. It's a good thing they're lifemates are ancient males.
As the new guards find their lifemates, maybe they'll have better understanding, and compassion that Mikhail suffered behind his fathers decisions, but he never gave up trying to save his people. Mikhail finding his lifemate gave many males hope in finding their lifemates, so Dragomir gives hope to the brotherhood in finding their lifemates.
I'm loving the new arc in the Dark series.

I cant wait for Gary's story he has worked so hard for the Carpathian people and deserves happiness as well as other unclaimed hunters.

Converting a male is so much harder to do than converting a female, Look at what it took to convert Gary.
Adaiah wrote: "I've always believed that if a converted woman can have a lifmate destined for them then why not a converted male. I like the idea, if a lifemate isn't in the world she'll eventually be born. Love,..."I don't have any special insight on this, but I did think about it, too. Why is it so hard to convert a man and not a woman? Then I had this thought-
When a man is converted he is newly born Carpathian into a world where his lifemate does not exist. As he's turned, his soul is torn in half so that he can have a lifemate. She would have to be born with that other half. So, the male is born into a world without a lifemate.
But, a woman who is converted comes into the world with a lifemate somewhere waiting for her.
Plus, the women are the light. They don't turn vampire. They're the hope.
Men have so much to contend with as Carpathians. I just think it would be harder for them.
That's just my 2 cents.
This is one of my most favorite series! I have every single one of them. They are easy to imagine being there! In the mountains, in the cities, even in the earth and caves. I love the quality, and the variety in the Carpathians!

Definitely more difficult for the male to be converted, but I'm glad that, if his lifemate isn't the world already, she'll be born. Gary's need is great, and I was so happy that he won't have to wait long for his lifemate.
I hope that the female mage, Julije(?) will be his lifemate. I'd love to learn more about the....good...mages. Reading about the evil ones, was a little...too...intense...for me.
She is to old. It was stated that his lifemate had just been born or no older then a couple months. She was given his other half of his soul after he was converted.
Namita, I agree. I really like this part of the lifemate concept."
"People would ask questions about why this couple couldn’t be lifemates, or why someone had to wait so long for a lifemate. There are rules that govern that and can’t simply have an exception made and still be true to the initial mythology."
I love it!

"I give you my soul. You gave me back light. Hope. You will always be home to me, Emeline. It will never matter to me where we are, as long as we're together." Perfect lifemate talk! A~GoA
One of the reasons I read Carpathian novels and they have become my favorite is because of the lifemate bond concept. I have said this many times in the CF community discussions that we cannot look at Carpathians and the Carpathian lifemate bond with our human perception. They are a different species with different rules. For me the best examples of lifemate bond I could see that helped me understand the lifemate bond are the stories from Dark Desire, Dark Guardian, Dark Dream, Dark Crime and now Dark Legacy. Lucian told Jax that there can be no Lucian without Jaxxon and no Jaxxon without Lucian, they are soul to soul if you will. Its frustrating at times when I read about a character like Alexandra and Emeline who have a hard time accepting their lifemates, of course both came around eventually, but non the less frustrating. Lifemates are two halves of the same whole, soul to soul. I could go on and on, however I shall stop here.... Love the Carpathian novels!!! Thank you Christine for sharing your gift of writing and story telling with the world!!!
Having the lifemate topic brought up again, along with the ancients and newly lifemated women, discuss this subject was nice. I like that if the woman dies without the make finding her, she is reborn. This was especially a relief to me after discovering all the psychic women kidnapped and dead. It also made me sad thinking of all the Carpathians who chose to give up their honor and of waiting. I like how again it was brought up with converting the children and Danny, Gary advocated against it because of the weight of ancients, it would be extra hard on a child.
♑Namita♑ wrote: "Wow!! Great read into Lifemates. I love the concept of lifemates....it's so romantic."Yes! It's one reason why some other authors I just get into there books then I stop. My favourites are Christine, Cynthia and Felicity although I'm getting back into reading Caris Roane.

one of the best things about this series I think for readers, is the Lifemate bond. the idea that loyalty and a passionate love between two people really does happen and really does last a lifetime, is very appealing in a world that has such a high divorce rate. I think it give the readers a key and advice to use in their own lives to look for that and show that kind of love to their own significant other.
Diane wrote: "I would love it if a book was written about the monastery and it's legendary warriors"Dark Ghost, Dark Promises, Dark Carousel and Dark Legacy we learn about all those in the monastery and see the ancients find hope, along with learning about the modern world.
Hope that Amelia can be helped. I guess that both she, and Danny will have to be converted to be Carpathians, to keep Tariq's other humans--and other Carpathians-- safe.

Emeline had continued trauma and was concerned that her actions would put an ancient at risk, further increasing her defensiveness.
I very much agree. Does anyone remember in which book Mikhail and Gregori combined their powers to protect their people--I think it was a battle scene? I loved it.
Janice wrote: "I very much agree. Does anyone remember in which book Mikhail and Gregori combined their powers to protect their people--I think it was a battle scene? I loved it."It was during the battles with the Lycans -- Dark Lycan ?
Janice wrote: "I very much agree. Does anyone remember in which book Mikhail and Gregori combined their powers to protect their people--I think it was a battle scene? I loved it."Dark demon when they were attempting to get back Xavier's book after they cut off Gregori's hand
I find it interesting that women cannot turn vampire. Women can be quite vicious - perhaps even more so than men since they tend to attack on an emotional and psychological level.Imagine if a woman were to turn vampire!? I imagine she'd very quickly gain a following of other vampires and torment the Carpathians in far worse ways than her male counterparts.
(If this ends up being a book, dibs on being a character. Or at least a consultant ;) )
The dark series is one of my favorite series. Here's a scary thought! How many ancients do you think it would take to kill one ancient turned vampire?
I need to re-read Dark Legacy again before the new one comes out I have either missed or forgotten quite a bit lol
Janice wrote: "I very much agree. Does anyone remember in which book Mikhail and Gregori combined their powers to protect their people--I think it was a battle scene? Thanks Sandra. I've been thinking of re-reading it, after I finish re- reading Dark Legacy. I just started re-reading Dark Legacy, a few days ago.
I would like to know what would happen if Sergy found his lifemate by accident since he a vampire. I remember in Dark Destiny that one of the vampire found his lifemate by accident and the brief interaction was very interesting. How suddenly his apparence changed for his mate and I dont think it was done by the vampire. I think the lifemate had something to do with it as if her alone was aloud to see who he should of been and briefly he gets to feel what he should of had and see maybe a moment color. To know what he lost. Maybe morn it and truly feel sorry to his lifemate. I think she xan make a vampire feel that once or so when first meet. What you think Christine? Anyone? Does anyone remember that book with Destiny and Mary the cousellor gets introduced in the series?
Astarte wrote: "I would like to know what would happen if Sergy found his lifemate by accident since he a vampire. The older lady recognized him (sad for him) and he paused as he realized who she was. The delay helped protect the humans and allowed Nicholae and Destiny to vanquish him.
I know they cannot be saved but i dont think they can kill their own lifemate even if they are vampire. Some thing uold them back, somethjng they are born with. I would think it eouldmake them see them selves and resent it. I know they cannotbe save, but i think there would be regret the vamoire feels. Maybe even failure. Only lifemate can bring I thjml thatboug even though they cannot be saved. I curios what would happen if Sergy happen uponed his lifemate. I know he couldn't kill her. I think he would torment her as was protected her.
In Dark Storm Mitro tried to kill his lifemate even before he turned into a vampire but was unsuccessful. He did kill his lifemate's parents and tried to kill an unborn child.
I thought hecould not kill his licemate in dark storm. I thought that he thought his lifemate was still alive and couldn't feel for her anymore. But it was actuslly a descendant. I knowhe xan kill her parents but not her. I remember reading that it actually bothered him how much a hold she had on him. He thought that he finally got over her holdnon him but it was that dhe died and he did not know. Because it was a descendant who was Dax's lifemate. I remember this story. That why I am courious in how Sergy would react.
This concept of lifemates was always thrilling to me, but instead of becoming more clear I feel it’s become muddled. To say if the male doesn’t find his lifemate in time, and she dies and is reborn, that just seems strange to me. Soothing, when you think about all the psychic women who’ve lost their lives, but still strange. Take Dax and Riley for example. Wouldn’t you say Riley is reborn or Arabejila? But Arabejila was clearly Mitro’s lifemate. Did Riley just randomly get reborn into Arabejila’s line? I don’t know how this really makes sense. It kind of takes the specialness of the lifemate away, too. She could’ve been anyone, in any time period, a different person, and so really any one of her incarnations would do? It makes the one who finds her lifemate not as special I feel like. Maybe I’m just being my normally resistant-to-change self. What about Gregori? Are we saying an incarnation of Savannah existed from the time he was born, and he kept missing her somehow, and she just happened to be reborn as Mikhail’s daughter??? Just odd to me. Not disparaging the series or CF, who I have been a loyal fan to for near 20 years. This is my favorite series. I’m just struggling with all the new stuff.
