Lora My problem with the definition for urban fantasy is that it says it must be "gritty". If you're not writing "gritty", you're not writing urban fantasy.

Me, I hate gritty. (Or, well, grit for the sake of grit, aka "edgy", aka what they've been trying to do to superheroes in the last decade.) I like stories with some hope and optimism, and I think that has a place in urban fantasy -- it's not modern-day dystopia, after all. :/
