Dena Garson: What’s on your bucket list?

How many of you have a bucket list? *raises hand*

Isn’t it exciting when you’re able to check one of those items off? It’s not so much a feeling of accomplishment, like completing a project, it’s more a feeling of “wow – I always wondered what that would be like.”

Last month I was able to check an item off my list. A friend of mine offered me a ticket to go to San Diego Comic Con. That may not seem like a big deal to you, but it was to me. I’d been trying to purchase tickets for years and had started to think that it would never happen. And wow! What a trip! It was everything I had hoped for even though I didn’t get to do half of the things I could have. There was just soooo much to do and see there.

The cosplay costumes, speakers, celebrities, displays, and artwork. There was so much to see it was actually overwhelming. Not to mention the number of people. Holy Cow!

The experience was something I’ll never forget. But isn’t that what makes the bucket list so powerful?

One of the other things on my list is travel to the UK and Ireland. I haven’t been able to get there yet, but I can write about it. Check out my haunted Irish castle in my paranormal romance titled Ghostly Persuasion.

Katie Ward came to Tullamore Castle in Ireland to fulfill her mother’s last request. When she meets the sexy spirit who frequents her suite she is drawn into in his plight. Despite a lifetime of denying her abilities she uses her time at the castle to unravel the mystery of his curse.

Seamus MacDonhnaill had been a woodworker at Castle Tullamore during one of the original expansions. Now, because of the selfish wants of scorned woman, he is cursed to wander the grounds in spirit form. After centuries alone, he’s elated to learn the beautiful American tourist staying in his favorite suite can not only see him but communicate with him.

The two are drawn closer as Seamus reveals not only Tullamore’s history but also the carnal delights to be found in the secret corners of the castle. Katie is determined to break the spell on him before returning to America. To do it she’ll have to enlist the help of the local witch and a few castle ghosts but a chance at true love is worth the risk.

Katd I have a different kind of bucket list that I started not to long ago. I'm raising granddaughters and they are just hitting their teen years. So my bucket list is composed of crazy things.

How to dry measure 1 tsp. in your hand
How to make chocolate chip cookies
Brownies from scratch
Getting hair out of the drain
Common stains and how to remove them
Checking your fluids in your car
How to use a drill
Different type of screwdrivers (flat/phillips)
Changing a tire
How to put on makeup for normal day
What type of beef to buy for what and where in a cow does that piece come from.
Genealogy
How to fix a lamp
Peter, Paul and Mary songs
World War II
The Civil War
How to make stock and render chicken fat
How to make gravy
James Taylor and Carol King
VBA in Excel
How to clean the outside trash can (gross)
The correct kind of salt to use to get rid of snow/ice (they used my table salt last year)
What to do if grandma is getting electrocuted along with fires in the kitchen

Basically trying to teach them common knowledge things that I was taught by both of my parents and they aren't getting from theirs.

Many of those have been completed. But last night the 11 year old told me she was exhausted. She said that I gave her more work on the weekends than she got all day at school.

But the best one is to make sure if grandma dies or has a heart attack to go in my shirt before the paramedics come. The older one said I know grandma - Get your phone, inhaler, debit card and money out first. Boy she knows me.

Would love to hear others lists.

Another one I did with some friends a few years ago is to list what you have in your medicine cabinet. It was pretty funny.
