a livejournal question

I have a question for you in the know. I keep getting messages that say someone's posted. Mostly they are spam. But when i go to check recent comments, they aren't there. I *think* that they might be getting moved into some special spam folder, but I'm not sure. I want to check because if they are littering my livejournal, then I need to turn off anonymous commenters, much as I don't want to. Can anyone with more know how tell me what's going on?

On another, equally sour, note, it seems that boy has developed some sort of stomach bug, making him incredibly miserable. I'm taking him to the doctor shortly.
