Rainbow Snippets – April 2nd 2016
Once again, I am returning to one of my NaNoWriMo efforts with my latest Rainbow Snippet. For those of you who don’t know, Rainbow Snippets is a Facebook group where you share six sentences of a work that has LGBT related content. If you want to check out this great community for yourselves, be sure to check them out here.
This week’s Rainbow Snippet is from the work in progress supernatural urban fantasy novel named Frozen Heart. I released the first half of the novel last year on Amazon, which you can buy here. The cover was provided by the very talented J.C. Clarke.
This is the original synopsis which you can find on the book’s page. The second half is currently work in progress, and is also covered by this synopsis.
It is the week running up to Christmas and Jason Fields is not looking forward to the event. After the betrayal of his boyfriend the previous Christmas Eve, all he wants for the holiday to be over. All that changes when he receives a chest from his family, which contains a present he never expected.
Glenn Eckhart has spent the past one hundred years as a prisoner inside an object he used to treasure, and has no reason to ever care for another. But when he is summoned by his new master, the once human man finds that Jason is nothing like he had imagined.
Jason has seven days, and seven chances to change his life. Will the two men find a way to thaw their hearts, or will they be frozen shut for the rest of their days?
This segment is set a few days after Jason becomes Glenn’s new master. After a misunderstanding involving a pantomime, Glenn decides to bring Jason breakfast in bed as a token of apology. He has just been asked by his master if is going to let Jason eat the food he has cooked on his own, much to his complete surprise.
The genie blinked, thinking that he was being serious, but then he saw the humour behind the jibe.
“Only if my master commands me otherwise,” he said with a smile.
Rolling his eyes, Jason picked up a mushroom and offered it in his direction.
“Glenn, I command you to help me finish off this wonderful breakfast.”
Before he could say or do anything else, the genie walked over, and picked the mushroom from his fingers.
“ Your command is mine to obey,” he purred, and slid the mushroom into the mouth and began to chew.
Once again, I would like to thank every member of the group who has offered me kind words so far. Your support and friendship mean the world to me. I hope you enjoyed everyone enjoyed this little snippet, and are looking forward to another brief glimpse as well as the final release.
