Rainbow Snippets – April 9th 2016

It’s time once again to post a snippet of an up and coming work on Rainbow Snippets For those of you who don’t know,  Rainbow Snippets is a Facebook group where you share six sentences of a work that has LGBT related content. If you want to check out this great community for yourselves, be sure to check them out here.

This week’s Rainbow Snippet is from a piece named First Degree: Kindred Magic. It tells the story of a man named Lucas Ridgewell, who is forced to become the holder of his family’s magic wand after his older brother decides to abdicate the position. In order to command it, Lucas must attend a finishing college for magic users. Along the way, he is drawn into the world of the undead, gains the loyalty of an outcast genie and falls head over heels for Gryn, a man who lives in a magic mirror.

In this short scene, Lucas is dreaming of his lover Gryn, but things take a turn for the worst when Lucas’s subconscious fears about his transition from mortal to vampire make themselves known. Be warned, this scene contains situations which some may find distressing. There is one extra sentence this time, because the scene wouldn’t have the same impact without the extra one.

Looking at Gryn, I blushed at the sudden emergence of my new vampire reflexes. Gryn merely smiled, placed a small kiss on my forehead and lowered me further into the water. The water cleansed everywhere it touched, and for a moment, I was paralysed with bliss.

“Goodnight my sweet” Gryn said softly, and before I could move, he removed his arm from behind his back. As my back touched the soft porcelain, his hand clasped itself onto my hair and pushed down with all his might. My mouth and nose filled with hot soapy water, and tried to scream out loud, only to release a wave of noiseless stream of bubbles. Just before I felt I was going to pass out,i was pulled back to into the air, only to be met with a horrifying sight.

Once again, I would like to thank every member of the group who has offered me kind words so far. Your support and friendship mean the world to me. I hope you enjoyed everyone enjoyed this little snippet, and are looking forward to another brief glimpse as well as the final release.
