I meditate frequently, usually every day, even if it is only five minutes. I have had a question going around my head this last week and wondered if readers would indulge me?
I see it time and again - never, ever ask readers to buy your book - authors should win them over so they will 'want' to read your work. I ask you this - is this true? Do you prefer to be 'won over' than an author to come right out and ask you if you would consider reading their work?
You see, I spoke of honesty in my last blog and I stand by it, honesty for me is paramount to existing within my world and others. To lie is something I find abhorrent. And so, to 'come at the reader sideways' feels like a lie, as though I am not being 'real', and so sales are slow. Marketing my books is not my strong point - writing a great story is.
So, may I ask with no agenda and honesty - DO YOU AS A POTENTIAL BUYER, PREFER TO BE ASKED OUTRIGHT IF YOU WOULD BUY MY BOOKS OR DO YOU PREFER TO BE WOOED INTO IT?
I would be grateful of all answers, so that I can learn from you.
With love and blessings as always.

From the point of view of the askee, if your books aren't my thing, then what am I supposed to do? Say "no" and then watch your expression congeal as the conversation screeches to a mutually embarrassed halt? Or say "yes" and end up paying for a book I don't want? Or lie, and say I'll buy the book later, when I don't have any intention of doing it?
You might get more sales by giving people the hard sell, but probably fewer party invitations!
